The New Oxford High School Marching bands show will no longer be called St. Petersburg: 1917″ and the performance will no longer include the hammers and sickles, according to a statement from Rebecca Harbaugh, the superintendent for the Conewago Valley School District.

Oh come on, they were just celebrating the memorable great music of the Communist Revolution. I mean, even Time-Life put out a series of albums, Music of the Russian Revolution. Don’t you remember? I have volumes 1-22 myself.
Okay, seriously, the Soviets made Prokofiev apologise for his music. What an awesome thing to celebrate, not.
I hope that there aren’t too many members of the radical right in Pennsylvania with paintball guns, and I really really hope that there isn’t a sudden run on the stores in Pennsylvania clearing the shelves of all paintballs in the color red. Especially when I think about how hard those union members work everyday, to keep that school looking clean and those band buses looking shiny. ;^)

But the schools superintendent Rebecca Harbaugh insists the performance was not an endorsement of communism. According to the school official it was a representation of the time period in history called St. Petersburg 1917, and she is very sorry it was interpreted as anything other than a history lesson.
