Akin has won several elections in MO and many by large margins. He has an A rating from the National Rifle Association, voted over 30 times to repeal Obamacare; voted against cash for clunkers; voted against the death tax; voted against the Wall Street Bailout and has a 100% pro-life ratinng. Akin also voted for a balanced budget ammendment to our constitution.
The choice is Scare McCackles or Todd Akin. There is a stark contrast. You want a list of gaffes by candidates? I can assure you there are many. Should we toss a good man out for a 6 second gaffe and let the gop decide who should run in MO? HELL NO. GO AKIN!
I think the Republican Conservative Committee is also changing their mind. They will support him.
I find it interesting that so many people outside of Missouri seem to think they know what works and what doesn't work in Missouri.
I don't have a problem with Republicans in Massachusetts backing Scott Brown — he may be the best that can be elected to the seat which was once held by Teddy Kennedy. I'd rather have a guy in the Senate like him who votes conservative some of the time than someone who votes conservative none of the time. If Scott Brown had to attack Akin to survive a nasty race in a far-left liberal state, okay, fine. I believe in federalism and Massachusetts voters can decide what's best for them.
What bugs me is when **REPUBLICANS** and especially very conservative Republicans on Free Republic think the national GOP following Scott Brown's lead is somehow a good thing.
There is no question that the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Karl Rove, and similar groups have every right to do what they want with their money. Maybe they need to attack Akin to keep his idiotic “legitimate rape” comment from gaining traction nationally with Democratic candidates. Okay, fine. Let's grant that point too. Maybe trying to get him off the ballot was a good tactical decision for the national GOP.
However, it is now clear that Todd Akin is not going to get off the ballot. He's a social issues conservative. Conservative Christian voters selected him in a hotly-contested three-way primary race. If the national GOP-e is not going to back him, it looks like social issues conservatives nationally are going to have to do so.
If Akin wins, it will be clear that social issues are winning issues.
If he loses, I'm not going to be very happy with what the national GOP-e is certain to say, namely, that social conservatives lose elections for the Republican Party.
E-mail sent. The guy needs to step down, but he won’t and we NEED that seat. If he were a Dem, they would back him tooth and nail - and so should we.
Cheers ZULU! Sen. Cornyn has his share of gaffes too. Dems win because they rally behind their candidates to further their agenda. Republicans lose because they attack good people and fall right into the media/dems trap.
I just sent Akin another check today.
“Dems win because they rally behind their candidates to further their agenda. Republicans lose because they attack good people and fall right into the media/dems trap.”
Bingo.
I will send him a check too - and send a copy of it to those pusillanimous morons in the GOP Establishment.
lol..I love the idea of sending the gop e a copy of the check. That deserves an award.
My E-MAIL to the NRSC
There you go again, your candidate in MO uses the wrong word to cite a fact. The Alinsky cadre of the Democrat party starts frothing at the mouth and you roll over on your backs and meekly plead we didnt mean to hurt your feelings.
You testicle deprived illegitimate offspring, get up on your hind legs and fight. The best defence is a full out attack.
The Republican party doing what they do best, working doubly hard to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
I could also predict that Rush Limbaugh (resident of Missouri) could win as a write in and beat McCrackle as well. Talk is cheap. Nov.6th is real.
I feel really good Akin is not getting any of my money for his pig headed run.
I have told them by telephone and by e mail that the NSRC is pretty much obsolete and not relevant. We can and do contribute directly with the click of a mouse. Their failure to adequately support conservatives, especially Todd Aiken means they certainly are not making decent decisions. The reason they might be behind in fund raising is because they are disliked and unworthy.
That’s what I started to do in 2010 thanks to Free Republic and the Tea Party.
When Akin wins, will you eat your words and apologize? Your comments and actions are NOT HELPFUL.
I suppose you’ve never said anything stupid. It’s either Claire the Lear Jet queen or Akin. Thanks for your help to the other side.
