Romney says Clinton can 'do a man a lot of good' (BARF)

NEW YORK (AP) — Republican White House hopeful Mitt Romney is unlikely to win Bill Clinton's vote, but that doesn't mean he can't soak up a bit of the popular former president's luster.

The two men stood side by side Tuesday as Clinton introduced Romney before the GOP candidate's speech to Clinton's annual global conference in New York. Clinton recalled working with Romney to save AmeriCorps, and praised the former Massachusetts governor's efforts to persuade fellow Republicans to support the national service program.

Romney, taking the podium, returned the compliment.

"If there's one thing we've learned in this election season, by the way, it is that a few words from Bill Clinton can do a man a lot of good," he said, prompting loud laughter and applause from the crowd.

It was a clear nod to Clinton's speech praising President Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention earlier in September, and the slight uptick in the polls that Obama enjoyed soon after.

"All I have to do now is wait a few days for that bounce to happen," Romney quipped.

That’s true. It’s WOMEN that need to be nervous around him.

” Republican White House hopeful Mitt Romney is unlikely to win Bill Clinton’s vote, but that doesn’t mean he can’t soak up a bit of the popular former president’s luster. “

Any “luster” on Bill Clinton is likely to be dried semen.

Luster or DNA evidence?

I listened to the comments. Romney was just trying to be polite and humorous. Nothing wrong with that.

C’mon, we can’t be overreacting to good-natured ribbing. Saw this on the tube and it was pretty funny.

I'm sure Romney's kind words for Bubba will help his poll numbers slightly with brie-eating cocktail party doyennes on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Now why is he there instead of Ohio? I don't get the GOP Elite's obsession with making country club liberals like us.

Clinton is out for himself. He wants to get back into that WH, and the best chance for him to do this is if Romney ‘wins’ the election in 2012, so Hillary can go up against Romney in 2016. Versus Obama really mucking up the country for another 4 years, and then the electorate will want to throw out every RAT with the entire dirty bathwater in 2016, leaving Hillary with a worse uphill battle to get in the WH. Clinton’s no dummy. He’s playing both sides in this game now.

Actually, Romney reveals (again) that he’s a decent and good man who can crack a good joke.

BTW, Bill Clinton, very likely, is voting for Romney.

Ok fine, but tell me -- why is Romney hanging out with Bill Clinton and Manhattan Upper West Side liberals instead of, I don't know, campaigning in the heartland with people who might actually vote for him?

so it was taken out of context.

Contextualize Romney's decision to take a day away from the campaign to support Bill Clinton's foundation? What is Romney getting out of this, aside from sucking up to people who will not support him no matter what he does? I don't get why Republicans crave the approval of the chattering classes.

Sheesh, It was a joke... vain praise of Clinton while mocking Obama... You gotta move through theses circles and you have to do it with a kind of backhanded charm... Reaganesque if you ask me.

Well, I’m guessing he was invited to speak and knew there’d be a lot of press around to cover it. Not everything is sinister, you know.

Chill, it was a joke. And in a way it was a slam at Obama who had to rely on Clinton to resurrect his standing.

FYI: Clinton, the rapist, molester, philander who had his law license suspended for lying under oath and only the second President to be impeached has an approval rating of 65%. Sick but true.
