G. Gordon Liddy, who did some jail time in the aftermath of Watergate, wrote a book in which he discussed a prostitution ring operating out of the burglarized DNC headquarters. John Dean was apparently heavily involved romantically with one of those women, and the impetus for the break-in, according to Liddy, was to destroy evidence of that relationship, which, if it were ever to be made public, would be a major election year scandal that the Nixon White House was trying to avoid. Dean later sued Liddy for defamation in connection with Liddy's Watergate theory and the case was dismissed.I never heard that, fascinating. I'd hate to think that many '74 smugbags like Patrick Leahy are STILL in office because John Dean was dating a hooker.
