Next we are finally going to hear why Barry and Michelle gave up their licenses, “the Continuing Education” requirement excuse. Those CE’s, the lawyers go to some fancy smancy seminar in a really nice vacation local (I know, I worked for a lawyer), and attend a seminar. Voila! CE requirements met, tax deduction, and a great vacation.
Several years ago I went to a science fiction convention in Chicago. I went a day early because the Science Fiction Writers of America had organized a seminar on Copyright Law, obviously of interest to us writers. To my surprise it was also attended by a bunch of lawyers, not SFWA members, who got CE credits for it. No skin off my nose. I learned a lot and got some nice reference material. So, I'm satisfied I got my money's worth. But it did seem strange that the legal types could get CE credit for it.
