Priebus: GOP ‘Not Going to Play in MO with Todd Akin’ (No RNC Money for Akin)
National Review ^

Posted on 09/23/2012 1:41:37 PM PDT by Windy City Conservative

Reince Priebus expressed optimism this morning that Republicans could win the senate in 2012, but warned that the party would not get behind Todd Akin, even if he refused to exit the race.

“We’re not going to play in Missouri with Todd Akin, I can tell you that,” Priebus said on ABC’s This Week, adding that it remained “to be seen whether he stays in or not.” The last day Akin can legally leave the race is Tuesday.

"as the GOP becomes more and more morally corrupt under the horrendous leadership of Boehner and professional fundraisers and consultants."

more corrupt than rats?......not even close....

as long as there is a solid rat party, the need for a equally strong pub party is essential, like it or not...

changing the pubs is work though....but its doable from the local level on up...

changing the rat party is insurmountable...

If he wins, he will obviously get his revenge. He may even caucus with the Democrats if he’s the swing.

Through 2011, Akin's 11-year ACU rating was 97. I would suggest he's not likely to caucus with the Dims.

No, ALL educated people were disgusted with his comments, and he can apologize , but he meant what he said . Let him condemn the whole concept of the magic uterus and all the toothless hillbillies that believe it.

I am educated, have all my teeth, and support Akin.

Way back when priebus was being selected by the RNC I pointed out he'd be terrible for Conservatives since none of those Wisconsin guys were really OUR KIND of Conservative. Even noted he was an avowed Mittbot who'd manipulate everything to get his boy in, and would screw around with anybody who challenged Mitt.

Priebus has only gotten worse.

Good deflection.

Do you agree with Akins original statement? Do you think he should have apologized?

an effort must be lead to deep six Priebus, Boehner and House Leadership, and Mitch McConnell. Romney might do better in the polls if he included supporting deep sixing Boehner as a campaign promise.

I agree wholeheartedly! They are such a drag on the conservative cause. I think people would start to rally with the thoughts of these weaklinks being ousted. What a waste of time and energy to listen to them. They are doing more harm to the party than Congressman Akin.

It is hard to get out the checkbook and put on the bumper stickers with these "yawn" birds. One only needs to think of the future of America. . . .why don't we hear more impassioned speeches about that?

MissMagnolia @5: "If we lose the Senate because of this, there WILL be consequences. You’re talking about possibly deep sixing the repeal of Obamacare, etc."

The whole thing is moot if Romney loses. But an Akin loss, even if the GOP wins the Senate, will be a convenient scapegoat for not overturning a (by then) already activated Obamacare, which, even with both houses and the Oval Office under GOP control, would be more complicated to accomplish than simple "campaign promises" make it out to be.

There's linkage here ~ both Akin AND Romney should drop out for having played too much footsie with too many Democrats.

Priebus, of course, should just walk away and hope he's never identified.

As far as Akin speaking with less than precise knowledge of the workings of the uterus, you can hear worse from almost any Democrat every day.

Most recently you heard the entire party line up behind some ol'gal at Georgetown University who said she needed $3,000 a year for condoms!

That, BTW, really hasn't got a lot to do with the uterus ~ not with that degree of traffic ~ no magic to it ~ overuse of the connecting parts will tend to disable a lot of stuff.

Here is Romney announcing his newest position on abortion

CBS News Interview: August 27, 2012
PELLEY: Well, the platform as written at this convention for the Republicans does not allow for exceptions on abortion with regard to the health of the mother or rape or incest. Is that where you are?

ROMNEY: No. My position has been clear throughout this campaign. I’m in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother.

I am curious. If Akin were to step down who would take his place?

Would they have any better chance to win than he does?

“Reince Priebus expressed optimism this morning that Republicans could win the senate in 2012, but warned that the party would not get behind Todd Akin, even if he refused to exit the race.”

Or, to give Priebus’s real meaning: “we’re O.K. with someone who has pushed a state version of ObummerCare (Romney), and with a senator that allowed the vote on ObummerCare to go forward when she could have killed it(Collins), or with someone who ran against a Republican candidate (Murkowski), but we can’t tolerate a conservative who misspeaks, even if he later apologizes for it. We’d rather not take control of the Senate than back a conservative like Akin who will not play ball.”

Priebus, You Mthrfking, shallow minded, little zib.

You, Steele, Rove, and a host of others are why I refuse to give money or support to RNC or any other national org.

You idiots gave us Bob Dole, when more suitable choices were available and we would have won.

After that you Jack Wagons gave us George Bush. I thought he was place marker and wouldn’t do much. Fine but, unsatisfacory.

911 brought out the real man and I admire him for a good many things he did during his terms but, he sure couldn’t find the will to bring out the veto pen when your hand picked congress rats decided to go on a spending spree.

I had an idiotic idea at the time that maybe it was calculated that there would be this point where even the Dems couldn’t spend more.

Nope. It get worse as the GOP claims to finally want to go back to their roots of fiscal restraint and excellent international affairs management.

I don’t believe you.

So who do you brain trustees from bizarro world decide to give us who in 2008? John McCain.

That was a great idea wasn’t it? Yeah, cuz it suppressed the Republican vote. That is until Sarah came along and gave us hope that maybe Matt Damon was right about the actuarial tables and she ascend to the Presidency when it suddenly became vacant.

Then you did everything you could to destroy our choices in DE, NV. You FKRS did a great job there.

You pulled your Horse Crap again in 2010 but we overwhelmingly prevailed...we hope.

And so now we have a chance to regain our majority in both houses and you just have to undermine it?

Akin should be supported but you just have to step in again and undermine a decent candidate.

Your idiotic logic that maybe a more suitable candidate, for you, will emerge between now and Nov 6 is so much trope.

Your reasoning couldn’t any more obtuse, you slack jawed slug.

I’m thinking you must be getting to much sun on that dome of yours. You should start wearing a hat.

Yeah, a hat... A nice and pointy one at that with colorful ties that attach under your chin.

You Ass Clown.

Oh, and Thanks for Mitt.

Fags...
