Bill Clinton: No president could have "magically" fixed economy in one term
By Leigh Ann Caldwell
Last Updated 10:12 a.m. ET (CBS News) Former President Bill Clinton offered a strong defense for President Obama's re-election Sunday morning, arguing that no president could have "fully healed" the economy in four years.
"That's why we've got to keep working at it," Mr. Clinton said on "Face the Nation."
The president's efforts, Mr. Clinton argued, have reversed the downward spiral of losing up to 800,000 jobs per month. "His jobs record is better" than the Bush administration's, he said, adding that no president could have "magically" returned the country back to full employment in just one term.
The former president, who is hosting his annual Clinton Global Initiative conference beginning Sunday, said that the Republicans "militant anti-government" approach will not benefit the economy.
There is "no evidence" that Mitt Romney's "militant anti-government approach will work," Mr. Clinton said. He added that President Obama's "balanced" economic proposal of investment, revenue increases and a spending reduction plan is "more likely to produce broad-based prosperity than Romney's."
Mr. Clinton weighed in on the debate over Romney's taxes, saying the latest release of his tax returns don't tell the entire story.
"It'd be interesting to see how the ordinary income years were treated," Mr. Clinton said. "We're not going to be able to see that."

He did, but it took a couple of hard years (and bad polls) before his efforts bore fruit. Romney will have at least as much trouble as Reagan did.
And you would not, even if he released 10 years of tax returns and you know it. Romney didn't take a normal salary as governor as head of the Olympics.
What would he be interested in? Seriously!

Notice the repetition from CBS to ensure the propaganda line sinks in: Romney is MILITANT and ANTI.
To a generation Clinton is a genius, an economic miracle worker. He's telling them "no one could fix this" and there's no one around of similar stature to defend Reagan's record. The Bush's can't; they're brand is tainted and Reagan's passed on.
The press could offer counterpoint to Clinton but obviously won't. They love Obama. They love Clinton. It's only their job to "fact check and "challenge" Republicans.
The education establishment is in the tank for the Democrats; liberal teachers have no motive to show what Reagan accomplished.
Republicans and Conservatives have been killed themselves by not learning from the Jews. As Michael Medved put it, the reason Jews work hard to get into certain positions is for preservation. No Republican in the classroom? How will students know what a Republican is like? They'll believe the media and the liberals that formed their worldview.
Homosexuals know this which is why they made an effort to be highly visible.
Freepers need to encourage their conservative children and grandchildren to get into education, to go into media jobs.

Two words, Slickmeister.
Ronald. Reagan.
Bush did it in 4 years, too.
It was the switch of Congress to the Democrats in 2007 that torpedoed his second term.
Unfortunately, not true. Bush’s second term was undone by the inevitable popping of the unprecedented housing bubble of his first term. He shared responsibility for that bubble - he and Rove - due to their policy of marketing home loans to poor people who couldn’t pay them. Unless we admit that Bush was a liberal, and his liberal policies ran us into the ditch, we’ll never be able to market conservatism to the American people. Obama is blaming Bush - but he won’t admit that Bush’s policies were liberal like Obama’s. We have to drive that home, or we have no honest way to answer Obama.
