Mitt Romney: How to Lose the Most Important Election of our Time by not Really Trying

Mitt Romney is losing the most important election of our lifetime. Don’t be deceived by the polls that show him “within the margin of error.” Don’t put your faith in last minute media-buys from the campaign’s gargantuan war chest.

Don’t expect the debates to turn things around. The president may not be an electrifying speaker, but he knows how to demagogue. His message will be: I love the middle class; Mitt Romney wants tax cuts for millionaires and eats children.

And, don’t count on the fact that public opinion is against Obama on almost every significant issue. (At no time since its passage has less than a majority favored repeal of Obamacare.)

The stars should be perfectly aligned for a Republican blowout this year. The economy is in the dumpster – deficits to dwarf anything we’ve seen in the past, the highest sustained unemployment since the Great Depression, anemic growth, huge tax hikes just around the corner, consumer prices through the ceiling – and the man responsible for it all is coasting to a second term.

The Governor, bless his bland little heart, is the worst candidate the GOP has fielded since Viagra Bob Dole – so bad he makes John McCain look like Harry Truman on his 1948 Whistle Stop Tour.

Almost every national poll shows Romney behind by 1 to 8 points – Rasmussen (Obama 47%, Romney 45%) Gallup (47% to 46%), Washington Post (52% to 44%), AP (47% to 46%) and Pew Research (51% to 43%).

What frustrates me, is during the primaries, Romney was so incredibly aggressive about eliminating his opponents and people were drawn into that thinking - wow, what a fighter...he will trounce Obama. And the meme spread that he was the only one with "the stuff" to win.

That was during the debates. The debates with obama have not begun.

I am neither openly nor secretly voting for any socialist, nor even a pro-abort libertarian. Got it?

It is highly revealing that what passes for modern “conservatism” these days can claim followers (such as yourself) who think we should be making “lists” of people who vote their principles.

Re: your third paragraph, God punished the nation of Israel (and later, Judah also) for the refusal of the people and leaders to turn away from evil (see 1&2 Samuel, and 1&2 Kings) and for their refusal to follow His commandments. Would it surprise you to learn that God has a purity test for leaders?

I would not panic because MOST of those who supported Obama will simply STAY HOME on ELECTION and the GOOD NEWS is that ROMNEY WILL WIN.

Someone asked me the other day if I thought there would be riots after the election and have been thinking about that.

So if you see your kid about to drive his new car off a cliff do you tell him, good job, son, keep up the good work, you're doing great, or do you tell him he's doing something wrong, now stop and change course before you drive off the cliff? Any possible change from the Romney camp is not going to come about from the words of Don Fader.

Well, then, whatever Fader says certainly can't win Romney the election either. So why not let the man have his opinion and move on instead of letting it bother you?

The conservative pundits are scared spitless because their conservative books, news columns, and radio shows have made them rich. They will be severely punished by Obama in his second term. And who do they blame? Romney, the same candidate they were touting as the “only viable candidate who can win” during the primaries.

I think they touted Romney knowing he would lose because business is better for them with the opposition in power. Hasn't Fox News and Drudge been openly saying their ratings/hits have been going up during the Obama administration? They can sell being the "alternative" to the mainstream better than being a cheerleader for the president.

There's always been a segment of Romney backers who seem to live by denying the reality of Romney's record, as if they've never heard anything about it. They project their own vision of who they "think" Romney is with absolutely no basis in fact to support it.
