Jews are an interesting bunch. My best friend of 18 years is Jewish and I consider him a brother as I am an only child, and so was my best friend in college. I’m Catholic.
On a day to day basis I find the Jewish people some of the most realistic, enjoyable people to be around.
Sometimes when I hear the thoughts and logic on deeper issues I simply feel like it is invasion of the body snatchers. Most often it simply does not match their actual behavior.
My neighbors are Jewish and conservative. They left Israel for greater freedom and do not plan to return. I think they are exceptions. I know some Jewish people in Boulder, CO and they have said directly to me “the government can’t let people do what they want to do”. What I wanted to say so much was “can I dictate exactly what you are allowed to do?”
As Jackie Mason once said, “ If you get three Jews together, you’ll get four different opinions.”
Each individual opinion and the collective opinion........
IKWYM...IMHO there are a few true Conservative/Libertarian Jews, but the majority are the Reformed/Leftist variety that gave the world a lot of failed ideologies. I’m very skeptical of the evangelistic Christians that are all gaga about ‘Jews as God’s people’ a bit too over the top also.
