Reagan, and everyone that benefitted from Reagan's presidency, owe a deep debt of gratitude to Peggy Noonan for helping Reagan to get his message across.

She may not agree with every conservative on every issue, but she is more solid than most.

And who do these nimnolds bring up in comparison? David Brooks??? Kristol??? And BTW, Noonan is right about Romney, was right about McCain and about GWB.

Romney is making a hash out of his campaign. If he wins it's only because his opponent is a complete failure.

McCain? Does anyone around here think McCain is a conservative? I thought we all called him McLame?

GWB? I know there are misguided true believers who still delude themselves into thinking that the compassionate crony capitalist was somehow a conservative just because he bombed Muslims, but wiser minds like Noonan know better.

Noonan also got her claws out like a teenage Valley Girl and tried to scratch at Sara Palin's eyes, all because Palin is prettier, younger, and more accomplished than she will ever be. No, but he is compared to Obama for whom Noonan dragged out her kneepads in ‘08 and is again in ‘12.

We owe here NOTHING. Not a damned thing. Reagan had his own philosophy. She did not create it. In some instances she put his beliefs into words, like an ad writer. She’s given little to no clue that she herself believes in Reagan’s philosophy. If she did, she’d never get invited to all those swell Manhattan cocktail parties.

I don’t think of Kristol or the rest as conservatives, either. When I think “conservative” I’m thinking Thomas Sowell, or others equally solid (but less talented) than him.
And being a ‘Pubbie doesn’t make you a conservative, as various Congresscritters and other elected officials have amply demonstrated to us.

Reagan got his message across long before Noonan came onto the scene. She may have helped write some of his speeches, but now I bet her words are the ones Reagan crossed out and substituted his own.
