You won't hear the slightest reference from the MSM to Obama having broken his pledge not to
raise taxes on the middle class because he didn't use the phrase READ MY LIPS which otherwise
would have had the MSM frothing a the mouth about it 24/7/365.
SHOCKING!
And we got Clinton because bush1 broke his read my lips promise
the 6 million estimate of people to be taxed for not having insurance under the Obamacare mandate is likely to be far too low. I expect that many of the state health care exchanges will not be up and running when Obamacare kicks in and the Supreme Court decision this spring removed the federal mandate for states to expand their Medicare eligibility. This means that perhaps millions more Americans who lose their coverage when employers drop health insurance and they cannot afford to pay for a private policy will be hit with this tax. Basically these people will have no place to go if the exchanges are either not running or they cannot afford the coverage from the exchanges and they earn too much to be eligible for Medicaid.
Thanks for posting this. I was just trying to explain it to a clueless friend. Now I can read the story to him and watch as he scrambles for a lame excuse.
Some random thoughts:
- Regardless of whether you call it a tax or a penalty, the result is the same - a major increase in cost to the middle class. If Romney doesn’t hammer this, he is missing a golden opportunity.
- Wasn’t a major reason for “having” to institute a national health care system that we have to “help” those who didn’t have or couldn’t afford health insurance? Apparently, as was said at the time, there are a large number who don’t want or need it, or still can’t afford it.
- The truth is that everyone has healthcare - just ask all the illegals that go to the emergency room for a cold.
This is yet further proof that you can’t trust anything that comes out of the mouths of liberals!!!
