SARASOTA, Fla. Supporters and opponents of Mitt Romney faced off outside of the Republican nominee's rally here in an at-times-violent confrontation.
As hundreds of Romney supporters lined the sidewalk outside the Ringling Museum of Art, a group of more than 20 protestors carrying an effigy of Romney marched in and confronted them as both sides chanted.
One of the men leading the protest, organized by Occupy and Move-On according to demonstrators, repeatedly cut into the Romney line drawing pushing and shoving.
Get a job, I worked my 50 years, shouted one Romney supporter at the demonstrators.
One man, wearing a yellow Manatee County Tea Party t-shirt squeezed the back of the protest-leader's neck, as other Romney supporters surrounded him.
After 20 minutes, the protest leader laid out a red carpet over several protesters and the man in the Romney costume walked over them. The leader then crowned "Romney" as the "King of the 1%," commanding the Romney supporters to bow before their leader.
"We dont get paid to support out candidate, shouted one woman.
Im proud to be one percent. I built everything I have," said the man next to her, also jeering the protest.

Beware the 53% Gray Panthers!!!
Because many of the north east and Chicago liberal turds move down here and then want to make this state like their old state.
Would we ever see protesters on our side go to their rally and then burn effigy's
The leftists came, disrupted, and left intact. What is there to beware of? |
Classic despicable Bolshevik street thug tactics.
I nevet thoutht I’d see it in this country.
“One man, wearing a yellow Manatee County Tea Party t-shirt squeezed the back of the protest-leader’s neck, as other Romney supporters surrounded him.”
I bet that the man in the yellow shirt was actually a member of The Obama-Soros financed OWS and the neck squeezing was a planned set up intended to make the Tea Party look violent.
Just take a look at the man in the yellow shirt, does he really look like a member of Tea Party?
Lots of great pictures.
[GOP] “Greed Over People”
That sign wording sizes up the “creativity” of the anti-Romney protesters
Weirdos. They have the minds of small children. I wish they'd hurry and grow up. They're really getting annoying.
What they need is a good slap on the ass. It worked for my kids.
Headline is inverted. The supporters were there and the Occupy clowns forced a confrontation. But the headline reads like the supporters attacked the otherwise peaceful protestors. More media used food.
Indeed, if they had disrupted and left bloodied up a bit, they'd think real long and hard about their next move. It's way past time for conservatives to take off the gloves and bust a few heads. IMHO
Sounds like the movie Joe..
Sounds like 20 punks looking for trouble disrupted a Romney rally.
“.........the protest leader laid out a red carpet over several protesters and the man in the Romney costume walked over them.”
Huh? I’m having trouble visualizing that statement.
Sounds like the movie Joe..
Get a job, I worked my 50 years,
Let me fix that....Get a job, I worked my 50 years,...Oh! That’s right, because of Obama, you can’t find a Job!!!
How is it this is not disturbing the peace or assault. What if the Romney supporters were instead waiting in line at a movie theater or restaurant and These OWS types came up and got in their faces shouting. Wouldn’t they be arrested. Why is it different because they are protesting. I bet police were standing there doing nothing. The police are paralyzed by the fear of being sued for violating first amendment rights of the protesters so they allow the rights of the Romney supporters to be violated in the name of free speech.
It's hard to believe those people think other people should be used as their slaves because, somehow, they "deserve" a free ride. What makes these people think others should pay their bills for them?
Why do they think, somehow, they have more rights than those who work for a living? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Beggars shouldn't be the choosers? Shouldn't they be at least a little bit grateful for what the politicians have stolen for them?
There was a time when beggars didn't want to be beggars, and they'd do anything they had to to find work. Today, it's just another left wing life style choice.
“Would we ever see protesters on our side go to their rally and then burn effigy’s”
No, that would be a hate crime. But burning some rich white dude..........no problem.
Demanding Romney Supporters bow down?
MAN, THAT’s JUST FRIKKEN HILARIOUS, coming from worshippers of Bowing Barry!
