A nominated Republican candidate speaks “inelegantly”? I must therefore call upon Romney to immediately step aside so that we can select another candidate who will not be attacked by the mainstream media and thus endanger other Republican candidates.

Going to be interesting to see what he fall out on this is. This is either the point the election was won or lost by Mitt Romney. The GOP is rallying to his cause. The Dems are going bat sh*t crazy. It’s all boils down to the independents. If their inner guilty white person comes out, Romney is toast. If the indies like it, Romney will win....We’ll know in a week.

This was Romney’s BEST SPEECH EVER!

Up til now I’ve considered him a nauseating RINO, but this speech TOTALLY changes my mind about him.

Why the hell is he apologizing for it???

He said that it was not “elegantly stated” and that he was “speaking off the cuff.”

It happens to the best of them, Mitt. And don't worry -- no one will be asking for you to withdraw from the race for your verbal misstep. However you might lose your super PAC funding from Karl Rove, but that's his business.

MSNBC has been on this every show all night, you would think they caught Romney in bed with a male lover from the fuss they are making. They seem to think this ends the race.,

Glad he DIDNT apologize, that would have been a disaster and the real end.

A bit of a mixed message there. We all don't want to pay taxes but many people are collecting from the government.

The MSM tries to suffocate Romney with this stuff so he can't have space to attack Obama on the bad economy.

...so the moochers are mad when someone points out they’re mooching?

You know what most people SHOULD be mad about? Watching their money to buy votes of ungrateful moochers....

There is a problem with the sentiment Romney expressed, though it's not one the press or the left (but I repeat myself) will pick up on and criticize: he seems to assume those currently dependent on government support wish to remain that way. Surely many do and will vote to make their position as serfs of the Federal government as comfortable as possible, but some, be it only a 47th of the 47% (and I suspect it's more), surely resent needing to rely on the government, wish for a better economy and the chance to do without government largess, and some of these have the wit to vote for an improved economy.

Obama’s accomplishments:

Osama dead (look what good THAT did)
Obamacare, which most people hate
The economy which EVERYONE knows sucks
Unemployment through the roof
High gas prices
GM dying, owing taxpayers billions
But hey, he’s black

Somebody remind me of why they think he will be re-elected?

Geez, who in the world doesn’t realize that Obama’s strategy and that of the Democrats in general has been to get as many people as possible to depend on the government for all sorts of free crap they’d be unwilling to have to pay for and then use this to threaten them by saying the Republicans will take it away if they’re elected so stay safe and vote Democrat?

I mean, just recently it was, "Republicans want to take away your contraceptives. We'll give you free contraceptives by mandating that your employer or insurance company pay for them." The unspoken message is, "If you want to keep getting free contraceptives, keep voting for us. If you want to lose them, get pregnant and be punished with a pregnancy, and then be forced into a back alley abortion, then vote for Republicans."

Undercover Romney fundraiser video leaked by Jimmy Carter’s grandson

(As it is reported that he is unemployed, he was probably hoping to make some money off this)

Michelle Malkin at Twitchy has this ....

My father never made over $38,000 a year with a family of six. My mother stayed home with us. He was all for a flat tax before it was popular. He thought it was the fairest way to tax, and felt no envy for those that made more money than he did. I’m sure he would have liked to have made more money, but he was proud to put in an honest days work and provide a home, clothing and food for us. Where have honest people gone? My father passed away a few years back. Maybe that’s where they’ve all gone. We were eligible for free lunch at school a few years but he refused— a father provided food for his family as long as it was humanly possible. No, he wasn’t a millionaire, but he was honest and
hard working. My true hero. Even back then, I couldn’t get braces because they cost to much. Other kids whose parents didn’t work got Medicaid to get them braces. My teeth weren’t bad, but I wanted that “perfect smile” too. After college I got a job and braces. The orthodontist said I really didn’t need them, but it was a sign of independence for me.

For what it’s worth, here’s how I slapped down the libs that were having a field day with this on my local newspaper’s articles forum:

The liberals will try to wield this statement as a scare tactic while painting Romney as a cold-hearted elitist, and it might work. However, it’s a dangerous game of high-stakes chicken they play. Because any average Joe on the street could tell them that it’s just as likely that it will resonate with hard-working Americans who are sick and tired of the able-bodied freeloaders. They’re also sick and tired of being told that Social Security and Medicare, which was picked from their pocket every payday, won’t be there for them because Big Daddy Government went on a spending spree. They may also be smart enough to see that the only way out of this economic black hole we’ve dug for ourselves is a combination of reining in spending, creating jobs, and putting a viable plan for energy independence in place - and that Obama either can’t or won’t do any of those things.
