Diplomats at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut have started to destroy classified material as a security precaution amid anti-American protests in Lebanon and elsewhere in the Middle East and North Africa.
A State Department status report obtained Monday by The Associated Press said the Beirut embassy had "reviewed its emergency procedures and is beginning to destroy classified holdings." It also said that local Lebanese employees were sent home early due to protests by the militant Shiite group Hezbollah over an anti-Muslim film produced in the U.S.
In Washington, a State Department official said there was no imminent threat to the heavily fortified Beirut embassy, which is about an hour away from where the nearest demonstration is planned

Then we shouldn't be there - this is Lebanon, or the staffing should only be those who are prepared to be martyrs.
Why in 2012 do we have paper copies of classified material at embassies?
Maybe we did not have enough specific intelligence to go after the exact people who were planning an attack, but we could have increased our security around our embassies and consulates in the ME. Perhaps an ambassador should have postponed a trip to a lightly protected consulate until after the eleventh anniversary of nine-eleven, especially after the attack on the Embassy in Cairo.
That’s what I’ve been thinking. It does ease one of the concerns about planning a strike.
Just because they love us.
Someone else pointed out that no actionable intelligence is lawyer speak not for “no available intel” but rather, for “we can’t make a watertight case for prosecuting anyone in a US court of law with a jury full of liberals.”
“The London Telegraph’s weekend [April 2003]revelations raise deeply disturbing questions about the extent and magnitude to which President Clinton, his national-security adviser Samuel R. “Sandy” Berger, and senior terrorism and State Department officials including Assistant Secretary of State for East Africa, Susan Rice politicized intelligence data, relied on and even circulated fabricated evidence in making critical national-security decisions, and presided over a string of intelligence failures during the months leading up to the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania.” ——Mansoor Ijaz

I see the bad moon arisin’
I see trouble on the way
I see earthquakes and lightnin’
I see bad times today
Don’t go around tonight
Well, it’s bound to take your life
There’s a bad moon on the rise
I hear hurricanes ablowin’
I know the end is comin’ soon
I fear rivers overflowin’
I hear the voice of rage and ruin
Don’t go around tonight
Well, it’s bound to take your life
There’s a bad moon on the rise
Alright
Hope you got your things together
Hope you are quite prepared to die
Looks like we’re in for nasty weather
One eye is taken for an eye
Well, don’t go around tonight
Well, it’s bound to take your life
There’s a bad moon on the rise
Don’t go around tonight
Well, it’s bound to take your life
There’s a bad moon on the rise

Sounds like Obama is planning on a no defense strategy. Heaven help us!
Thanks for the ping. I am in the mountains on a getaway but able to check pings and stuff every now and then and it has been so helpful to have my FReeper buds pointing me to the main breaking news that the Obama media refuses to cover. This whole thing is scandalous not to mention dangerous, but the media is more worried about propping up and protecting Obama than the safety of our country.
Stupidity?

I read elsewhere that paper cannot be hacked or accessed as in electronic methods. Crude and old fashioned but in some ways more secure.
CD ROM... eliminates that problem, so long as the computer is never online...
I wish our men were armed and I was with them to help. .308 FMJ and .45 JHP would leave some very big holes as they pass through animals.
I’d put em down like a rabid pack of hyenas should be.
