Following the death of U.S. ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens in Benghazi, many pundits jumped to criticize Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney for labeling the Obama administrations response to the crisis disgraceful.
On this weekends broadcast of Fox News Sunday, Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume said that, although Romneys remarks were ill-timed, the medias reaction was the real problem.
I think what he said was correct but it was clumsy, Hume said. And it opened him up to charges that he made a terrible mistake. We had an almost ludicrous overreaction in a lot of the media about it in which what he did became the big story rather than what was happening over there, which was not a great moment for the national media, Im sad to say. You know, he could have waited, it might have been better if he had.
Hume said Romney was ultimately proven right when the White House walked back an apologetic statement issued by the U.S. embassy in Egypt just before Stevens death. In the statement, the embassy condemned an anti-Islam film that continues to outrage Muslims in the Middle East and voiced concern for the religious feelings of Muslims.
Look, what [Romney] was criticizing there was a statement that we were talking about in the first panel, which is the administration emphasis on this video and attacking it and reiterating that the Cairo embassy not only said that, but it reiterated it later after these events unfolded, Hume said. So they doubled down on it. Eventually the White House walked it back and so on. But the next thing you know the White House is saying the same thing that it is all about the video. So, my sense is that he was on the mark. He

Media ‘creating’ the news, instead of reporting it. That’s what America has become.
They simply parrot White House talking points
They were not clumsy, they were needed. Good grief.
Let's be honest, Romney isn't perfect. Time and time again I have heard him dis 7 of our states and only talk about 50 of them as being part of the federation of states.
The American "media's" great moments are long past. They are openly shilling for Obama. They've always had a liberal bent, but at least in the past there was at least an attempt to show a modicum of impartiality... but no more. They're nothing more than propagandists for democrats, they know it and they don't give two sh*ts whether anyone cares. Their sole purpose now is getting Obama reelected. I just wish more Americans could open their eyes and see them for what they truly are.
Romney responded hard and fast which caught the Admin off guard because the spin did not have time to develop. Only response by Obummer and the media machine was ridicule the truth. Romney should of literally said the press is not a friend to truthful reporting of the facts and the Alphabet networks are just another wing of the democrat Party machine.
They are correct to jump all over the Obama Admin.'s lack of direction and hiding behind the video skirts!
Libya's own foreign minister or other spokesman thoroughly debunked as claptrap, the video as inciting the violence.
Why would any business advertise with a media outlet that is asleep at the wheel? I want the money I used to buy stock in a company wisely spent. Giving money to these media outlets that are sleeping on the job is a failure by the leadership of a company advertising with them to exercise proper due diligence with the stockholder’s money. This would require the dismissal of the company’s leadership. There has been too much threatening by media outlets whose audience shrinks every day. It’s time to call their bluff. Stop advertising with people who don’t do their job.
No, he's not.
Who 'is'? If there 'is' someone, pls let me know.
Everyday we see how the media, which should really have a different name - let’s face it, they no longer even resemble media of the past, so a new name is needed. Perhaps something alongs the lines of the Propagandia? At any rate, they have used their positions, and spent their political capital, in lying to the American people. A few years back, we were all blind to how they operated, but now as the light is shone upon the bottom dwellers, they have managed, in a single generation, to destroy their professional reputations, such that they are now viewed as darkly as the other bottom dwellers of society, namely lawyers and politicians, though most politicians are lawyers.
What we now see is our government, which includes both parties, destroying and looting this country, while keeping us arguing with each other. They and their cronies are looting our treasury. There is no other word for what our modern day politicians are doing, than treason. That the media is complicit in their thefts, and helping them to propagate their social issue wars, is reason enough to call them treasonous as well. Themedia’s covering of the truth and their personal destruction of anyone who dares to shine the light on the corruption that is going on in Washington also idicts their profession as traitors. All of this wonderful “journalism” has been brought to us by the “esteemed” journalism departments of the Ivy league universities, principally led by Columbia University. This government has become destructive of the individual’s rights and freedoms, as well as destroying economic opportunities. The supreme court has said the only legal way to “abolish” our government is through the ballot box, but in reality the game is so fixed and rigged towards incumbents, that it is virtually impossible to have a “clean sweep” and throw out all the incumbents.
The closest we were able to come to throwing out enough of the bums to enact sweeping changes to our government was in 2010, but they have found ways to workaround our elected representatives and continue their brazen thefts of our children’s futures and fortunes. They just came, in the middle of the night for a film-maker who made a film about a politically uncomfortable subject that has cast the Obama administration in a negative light, and there is no protest. Nobody is saying anything, and yet they intend to try this guy on a probation violation about his not being allowed to use the internet, and they have some vague evidence that he supposedly used the internet. Nothing concrete, but that doesn’t matter anymore. The moment we allowed this administration to kill al Queda members, that are in foreign countries, without so much as a trial in absentia, and on the say so of our omnipotent (and at the same time impotent) president, we all lose some of our freedoms and rights. I have seen little print devoted to our continuing loss of freedoms and the group-think that is slowly (and not-so-slowly) being imposed on our society. Where are the decent men in the press who have earned reputations that will allow them to scream from the highest belfries, and not be summarily fired? Surely there are a few decent men left in the press? Freedom lost, in the end, is not easily gotten back, and is usually only given back, after much blood is shed. We must resist at every opportunity the government’s constant intrusions and usurpations of the constitution, all the while claiming it is a living document. I don’t believe all is lost, but the hour is late.
