President Obama is cramming for his three prime-time debates with Mitt Romney next month by practicing brief and concise answers, senior campaign strategist David Axelrod told Reuters.
A gifted orator, Obama has a tendency to give long, detailed answers that the campaign worries could come across as aloof during a televised debate. In his debate prep with sparring partner John Kerry (D-Mass.), Obama has been working on keeping his answers short after four years when he's rarely had to submit to rapid-fire questions.
“He's got to speak shorter, that's all,” Axelrod told Reuters. “He just hasn't had to do that for the last four years so that's a part of the discipline of preparing for these debates.”
Axelrod said that the president was trying to squeeze in preparation time whenever he could, on flights to west coast campaign events and at the White House in the evening.
“We don't have the same luxury that Romney does in terms of time,” he said.
Axelrod also said that Obama was familiarizing himself with Romney’s record and statements during the campaign.
“He's spent a lot of time reading material and most of it is familiarizing himself with what Governor Romney said in this campaign,” he said. “He's pretty conversant with his own record but he wasn't very conversant with Romney's.”
Romney, for his part, will seek to land rhetorical blows as Obama heads into the final stretch of the presidential election with a slight lead in the polls.
Romney’s debate partner is Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and reports said the GOP nominee began prepping earlier this month, while Democrats held their national convention in Charlotte, N.C. Romney and Portman went head-to-head during a week-long retreat at the Vermont home of former Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey (R), a campaign surrogate.

Through a combination of wise investment and diligent oversight, working hand-in-hand with those members of congress willing to embrace the fundamental reforms necessary to achieve a balance between growth and caring, we've managed to achieve where others before us failed to even try.
Debate moderator: Oh my God! That answer was so wonderful, I'll need a moment or two to catch my breath. I think I'm crying...
Romney: He never even answered your question!

That’s pretty much what Romney is up against, if he makes a salient point, they’ll just say he’s ‘trying to score political points’ and he’s ‘attacking the President’.

All I can really hope for is the R&R are prepared. Hopefully somebody in their house understands what scum bags they are going to be “debating” (media contrived Q&A) and ready for out of the blue questions that will “prove” they aren’t ready for the white house. These slime balls know no limits when it comes to getting down and dirty. It’ll be to old “So, are you still beating your wife?” type thing. First lie out of the gate wins every time. I think it was Mark Twain that said a lie makes it half way around the world before the truth even gets it’s pants on. No mas pantelones!

For him to say that his non-answers will become more “concise” should frighten anyone who wants to see him get reelected.

I see that repeated a lot... that he’s a gifted orator. It’s a stretch but I think they’re hoping it will stick if they repeat it enough times.
It will be a bit easier since his sycophant news buddies will have given him the questions well in advance.
I’ve alluded to this before, but, may I say this again? I think the debates will be the determining factor in who wins this Election. I hope Romney leaves his gloves at home when he gets to the debates.
If Obama does have an ear mic, would it be possible for someone on the Romney staff, who is extremely high-tech, to be in the audience and scramble it or use a remote to cause it to make a loud screeching noise right in Obama’s ear? That would be priceless.

Obama’s favorite tactic when angry and cornered is the Hobson’s Choice method of debating. For those not familiar with it..Obama will answer a question with a question for Romney like ...”Ok so what program people depend on would you cut Mr Romney”. A rhetorical trick akin to “So have you stopped beating your wife yet” Romney needs to prepare for an aggressive, desperate Obongo.
The R&R camp I am sure is aware the lengths of desperation Obama and his team will go to, to get 4 more years. Obama is a sick, twisted, demented sociopath. There is no lie, sin, crime he would not commit if he could get away with to maintain power. For the Godless, power over your fellow man is their God. Been like this since Cain and Able. Obama is demonic, evil man, devoid of Christian morality and decency. He’s a sick and damaged mental patient. Throw in his family and most of his hardcore Satanist surrogates and supporters.
