With time dwindling for him to gain an edge in the presidential race and with an outbreak of finger-pointing signaling trouble in his campaign, Mitt Romney plans to begin an offensive this week, his aides said, seeking to give voters a clearer picture of where he wants to take the country.
Amid a clamor of calls from prominent Republicans for Mr. Romney to offer a major policy address to answer voters continued questions about his plans, his aides said he would present a series of speeches, television commercials and events promoting his five-point economic policy, even as he concentrates on his next big chance to change the race: the debates.
In an interview, Ed Gillespie, a senior adviser, said that in the coming days the campaign would be very future oriented about what a vote for Romney would result in.
But the discussion of the new tack came as Mr. Romneys campaign was contending with a report in Politico on Sunday night that his campaign was divided over the dominant role of his chief strategist, Stuart Stevens.
In interviews on Sunday night, others close to the campaign said Mr. Stevenss domineering style had at times rankled his colleagues. Campaign aides had also begun grumbling about Mr. Stevenss role in debate practice sessions; they said he frequently interrupted and offered rambling monologues.
But none questioned that Mr. Stevens remains close to and trusted by Mr. Romney. And one senior adviser, who discussed the internal workings of the campaign on the condition of anonymity, dismissed the criticism of Mr. Stevens as coming from outsiders.
In the inner circle of this campaign, the people who are on the phone calls and really making the decisions, theres not infighting, there just isnt, the adviser said.

Well it looks like the media is understanding that its coordinated attack on Romney’s response to Libya/Egypt has fizzled, so they’re moving on to the next coordinated attack.
The only discord exists in the mind of the Obamabot media stooges.
What is sad is how quick so many “Conservatives” are to be be the mindless echo chamber of the Democrat Jour-0-list propaganda machine.
Where the infighting is coming from is DC political hacks who feel they should be inside and are not. There is a certain class of GOP operative who thinks it is more important for them to be on the Democrat Propaganda Machine's speed dial then winning elections.
He's on a treadmill while the media drives a Ferrari, they would love to continue to drive circles around him while he stands still for another 6 1/2 weeks. It's not been pretty, there's still time, but his campaign hasn't been doing the job effectively yet. It's close, but he needs to do a lot better.
The only problem is that Mitt’s only message is that Mitt really wants to be president. His daddy wanted him to be president, and, by golly, he’s going to get there! Mitt has no other guiding principles.
Exactly. The media will do and say whatever it takes to help Obama. Stay strong, my FRiends! Stay focused and stay on message.
Oh, and one other thought: I mentioned a month or two back that when the media and talking heads begin reporting whispers of "possible unrest if Obama loses", we'll know we're gonna win. That will be their final card, dealt from the bottom of the deck, of course.
Obama getting his message out more effectively might work to our advantage.

DING DING DING DING -— WINNER.
This fits in to the ‘manufactured edge’ for Obama in the polls:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2932141/posts
So they create a false ‘edge’ (latest Ras has Romney up 1).
They will have a drumbeat of negativity to get him off his game.
In reality, no polls have Obama above 50%, ROmney may not have closed the sale yet, but Obama’s in trouble and ready to be fired if Romney can make the case.
Unfortunately the media does a better job of describing her positions than they should get away with.......
It's what all R's face, it's just important that they face up to the disadvantage early and figure out how to beat it. That's Mitt's (and our) challenge.
Mitt has more guiding principals in his little toenail than BO. I see Romney as a solid, smart , get it done type of person that would be good for the USA at this time. He’s not much of a politician, which means he’s not a skilled liar. This I like about him. Guess you prefer BO and the Mooch whom all the communists and dictators around the world want for president. Frankly, I would prefer the support of a good man like George Romney was.
The first thing Romney can do is to get rid of most of his “aides”. So far they are useless, cowards, don’t understand the Obama enemy, and put out putrid pablum.
All future Romney aides must go to “Backbones R Us” for some reinforcement before getting hired, and then they must know what the hell they are doing.
No more “Ted Mack Amateur Hour”.
If Mitt has them, he certainly does a p-poor job of articulating them.
Mitt isn't good at it, but he is a compulsive, sociopathic liar, he can't control it.
As far as being a "politician", Mitt grew up in the family business, walked out on Goldwater (with anti-conservative dad, George Romney) in 1964, left the GOP in 1979 because of Reagan, he came in time to support only democrat politicians, and even did democrat fundraising and voting.
Heck, the guy has been running for office for 20 years.
Amen.
Good post.
Vote for me, and YOU get to pay for Sandra Flukes KY jelly
lol.
If this is what they call “infighting” imagine what they would call the fireworks going on in the Obama camp.
I hope Mitt gets there too. There will be celebration in the jonrick46 household when Mitt is elected President--by golly!
