If wanted Iran to think the U.S. would not step if Israel made a preemptive strike on Iran I would do exactly as Obama is doing.

I would make it look like I refused to meet with Netanyahu.
I would make it look like I was more interested in campaigning and appearances on the David Letterman show.

I would do all I could to make it appear as if the U.S. stepping in to assist Israel was the last thing the U.S. was planning to do.

Is that they plan?

0bama sent a letter to Tehran assuring them that the U.S. will do nothing to help Israel. Taking that off of the table removes a big worry for them that might have made them think twice. Iran is good to go now with 0bama's blessing.
