Listen for it,” CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley urged viewers Friday night in trumpeting what he hailed as “a remarkable moment of candor” from President Barack Obama “when he told us the sacrifices he makes being President wouldn’t be worth it except for one thing.”
Viewers soon heard from Obama how all the sacrifice he must suffer through as President, such as “the inability to just take a walk,” is all “worth it” when he hears about how an ObamaCare provision has saved someone from dying of cancer. Yes, it takes “remarkable candor” to tout yourself as magnanimous, but you’d think a journalist of Pelley’s stature wouldn’t be so excitedly gullible.
Pelley Trumpets Obama's 'Remarkable Moment of Candor' in What Makes the 'Sacrifices Worth It'

This is what Obama asserted which Pelley directed viewers to appreciate in the interview conducted back on Saturday, September 8 and trickled out over the past week:
One of the things that you learn after you’ve been in this office for a while is the pomp, the circumstance, the title, the Air Force One, all that stuff probably isn’t worth the sacrifice with respect to the time lost from your family, the inability to just take a walk and go out for a drive. What makes it worth it is when you meet some couple that says, “you know what? Our kid was able to stay on our health insurance plan and it turns out they were just diagnosed with a curable cancer but if they hadn’t stayed on our plan we would haven’t caught it.” That’s what makes it worth it.
From the Friday, September 14 CBS Evening News:
SCOTT PELLEY: This week we have our interview with the President and there was a remarkable moment of candor when he told us the sacrifices he makes being President wouldnt be worth it except for one thing. Listen for it. He brought it up while we were talking about the bitter deadlock between him and the Republicans who control the House.
PELLEY TO OBAMA: The folks at home are so concerned about Washingtons apparent inability to get big things done. How can you assure the American people that you are willing to go halfway and make a compromise with these people that you have apparently such acrimony with?
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: Scott, Ive got to tell you, there may be acrimony directed towards me but, you know what? Thats not unique towards my presidency. Im willing to go more than halfway. And Ive displayed that. I think that throughout my political career Ive shown not only an instinct but a desire to find common ground. What Im not willing to do is to slash education spending or, you know, health care for poor and needy children. And the reason Im not willing to do that is because its not going to help the economy grow. Independent economists who have looked at it have said this would actually slow down the recovery, it wouldnt speed it up so it wouldnt increase jobs right now. It wouldnt reduce the deficit.
My entire interest is to deliver for middle-class families out there that are struggling everyday. And they are working hard and -- you know, one of the things that you learn after youve been in this office for a while is the pomp, the circumstance, the title, the Air Force One, all that stuff probably isnt worth the sacrifice with respect to the time lost from your family, the inability to just take a walk and go out for a drive. What makes it worth it is when you meet some couple that says, you know what? Our kid was able to stay on our health insurance plan and it turns out they were just diagnosed with a curable cancer but if they hadnt stayed on our plan we would havent caught it. Thats what makes it worth it and any ideas that are out there -- Republican, Democrat, wherever its coming from -- if it can help deliver on that, then Im going to be right there ready to go.
What a load of taqiyaa infested crap.
How sore does anyone think that Pelley’s knees and jaws are after that pathetic act of political fellatio?
During this broadcast there was not one mention of the trouble in Africa that was taking place, nor the trouble on campuses, nor the credit downgrade. Plenty of puff pieces though.
FBHO and all of his worshipers.
barack hussein obama, enemy of the state, but I prefer to just be called president.
Did he really mean golf? Somehow, this "very busy guy" manages to play about 50 times more than I.
“Kneepads” Pelley. I lost all respect for him when he interviewed a veteran from
Iraq who was accused of shooting some nationals. Pelley couldn’t seem to comprehend the split-second decisions which must be made in a combat situation.
Saw it coming. My wife and I just turn off the t.v. Would hope that others did the same.
is this serious?
dang
These are the super, heavy-duty kind that Lewinsky used to wear when she serviced Bill Klintoon and almost all of your slobbering, Obamabot Lemming buds in the lame stream media are buying 2 pairs in case they wear one out
Taft also was known for spending a lot of time outside of Washington, like Obama, and I believe he was fond of playing golf.
Not that anything in Taft's pre-Presidential career measures up to Obama's record of community organizer, Illinois legislator, and US senator. All Taft had done was be governor of the Philippines and Secretary of War--he had never won an election before he was elected President.
Why are you even watching SeeBS?
Another example of why I have not tuned into the alphabet network news in 20 years. Local alphabet news (out of Madistan,WI) is equally unwatchable. Only the weather is of any interest.
Those Freepers who have Dish Network, should be aware that we now get channel 212, The Blaze. I have scarcely had it turned off for the last 2 days. Full time conservative news. No duct tape needed for your head.
