Why couldn’t he said:
Sure, Obama exudes likability from a distance, but the fact of the matter is he has bad relations with Congress, he isn’t respected by world leaders, and many of his top advisers have left the White House.
Dear Washington Post: Did you ever hear the expression “damning with faint praise”?
... to terrorists.
Yeah. I think he left off those two words.
Good points.
But Romney needs to be careful not to alienate his base, either.
IMO, he’s on a tightrope here. I just hope he doesn’t lose his balance before election day.
...after that, I hope he goes with greater honesty.
I used to think it was un-Christian as well as just rude to gossip or speak ill of anyone. Now that I’m older, I realize that as long as the information is true, it is often better to speak up. Holding back negative information means that you are failing to warn and therefore protect others who are potential victims of evil.
Because most of us have been brought up to think that gossip is bad, that “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all,” evil people count on good people to protect them with their silence. Don’t be a party to evil by withholding the truth.
What you said! As much as I didn't care for Der Schlickmeister, at least I could understand how people could find him likeable. No way with the Kenyan Marxist.
But why would Romney need to say anything about his likability at all? Just avoid the topic instead of issuing a sound bite that affirms the public feeling about him. You can’t give any free points to your adversary, especially in a battle with such a ruthless opposition. He could just say “I don’t know Mr. Obama personally” and move on to your substantive issues or criticism of Obama.
The only people that would find Obummer likable are braindead democrats. All the respublicans I know despise the phony SOB.
We won’t survive.
If we could win the election with just Republicans then Romney saying he hates the sob would be a smart move.
How about "Likable, but inexperienced and in over his head. Plus, his policies suck."?
Yes. He touched on that but didn’t drive it home the way you did.
I like the phrase “ superficially likable”.

I like the phrase “ superficially likable”.
A very useful description. Yes, I believe that should be incorporated in the campaign boilerplate...
Stalin was a swell dude, I’ve been told! (By those who survived.)
It's well beaten by two pioneers, Baby Bush and Daddy McLame.
I had the same thought--you could see why people would be attracted to BJC. BO--don't understand it at all!
