U.S. President Barack Obama on Thursday released a video greeting to the Jewish people in honor of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
Obama suggested that the New Year was a time to repair his country's relationship with Israel, at the end of a week in which he and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had been at odds over Iran's nuclear program.
As we look forward to the beginning of the Jewish High Holidays Sunday night, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all those celebrating the New Year, Obama said.
This is a joyful time for millions of people around the world. But Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are also opportunities for reflection. They represent a chance to take stock of our lives and look forward to the coming year with clear eyes and renewed purpose.
In that spirit, the Jewish Tradition teaches us that one of the most important duties we have during this period is the act of reconciliation. Were called to seek each other out and make amends for those moments when we may not have lived up to our values as well as we should.

I don’t know about you Nachum, but I am not feeling too joyous right now.
But, there is lots of motivation to pray....

Thanks, Nachum
For President Know-Nothing: the “bond” is between God and the Jewish people, the Abrahamic covenant.
If he actually read the Old Testament, he would understand that.
Genesis 12-50 (KJV)
12 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
So many buzzwords. /adjusting tin foil hat

What people? He doesn't say "Jewish" people around the world.
What is to be reflected upon? Failed attacks in previous years?
A lot not said in that third sentence. For the Jewish people it's been a continuing purpose, not a renewed purpose. The Jewish people don't need to take stock of their lives, they know exactly where they stand.
Just who, exactly, is he talking to here? It sounds like the Jewish people, but then again...see what I mean? /adjusting tinfoil hat
And people can call me crazy all day long. I don't mind one iota.
I'm always ready to roll.
Amazing. Zer0 has become pro-Israel, pro-military in the last month or so.
Why, you’d think an election is coming up. /s
The MSM will report on Obama's empty words but not his actions.
No tinfoil hat necessary. He is parsing his words and lecturing the Jews- again.
You know Cincinna that the Muslims believe that Abraham’s other son was the blessed one, not Isaac.
” No tinfoil hat necessary. He is parsing his words and lecturing the Jews- again. “
Correct.
