(Reuters) - The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits rose more than expected last week, with several states reporting an increase related to Tropical Storm Isaac.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits rose 15,000 to a seasonally adjusted 382,000, the highest in two months, the Labor Department said on Thursday. The prior week's figure was revised up to show 2,000 more applications than previously reported.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast claims rising to 370,000 last week.
A Labor Department official said Tropical Storm Isaac, which drenched parts of the country, accounted for about 9,000 of the claims filed last week. The number is unadjusted.
But even accounting for the storm, the report suggested little improvement in the labor market after job growth slowed sharply in August. The four-week moving average for new claims, a better measure of labor market trends, climbed 3,250 to 375,000, the highest since the middle of July.

Romney’s fault!
In North Korea, the lack of food is blamed on “bad winters”. Never a problem it seems in next door South Korea.
If Obaba can’t blame something on 4-years-ago-Bush, then why not the weather instead?
None of his disastrous policies are HIS fault, of course.
Even Labor admits that the hurricane rise in claims is not enough to explain the rise.
I think jobless claims are up because somebody went back into prehistoric time and accidentally stepped on a moth - changed everything.
“........rose more than expected last week, with several states reporting an increase related to Tropical Storm Isaac.”
If tropical storms cause an increase in jobless claims, how was this increase “unexpected”??????????
The lies are becoming more and more pathetic each round.
Ivan was a piker. Hurricane Barack has wreaked havoc on America for 3+ years.
A short lived tropical storm at that, it turned into a tropical depression pretty quickly.
Very telling when a windy rain shower can destroy what’s left of Obama’s economy.
They are beginning to sound like Islamic terrorist with everything being an excuse to do or not do something. Pathetic.
Also, maybe i’m missing something but Isaac really just caused some flooding and power outages for a couple of days. It really didn’t seem to cause too much damge, did it?
Maybe I’m wrong..idk
Right? I thought it was basically a bad rain storm that past through for a day or two. Did it really cause jobless rates to go higher?
:shrugs:

It’s funny how she uses the words “unexpected” or “less than expected” almost on a daily basis.
at least the storm destoyed some ATMs
No intelligent individual has believed the propaganda in quite a while, but the morons that blindly follow the kenyan usurper eat this up.
