Starting at 5 p.m. Eastern time today, Becks channel, The Blaze, will be channel 212 in Dish Networks 14 million households. It will be included as part of a 250-channel package, or available as a premium channel, for $5 a month, to those who receive a more basic package.
In sheer dollar terms, the deal is big but not gigantic for Becks company. Dish will reportedly pay a small per-subscriber carriage fee, which likely means 5 cents to 10 cents per month per household. In its first year, then, the agreement will yield subscription revenues of less than $16 million. Thats not earth-shattering for a man whose multi-media empire was already closing in on revenues of $100 million even before he signed a new five-year, $100 million radio contract.

My dish guide says he is on channel 212, but they are running infomercials.
He’s not a birther so I won’t watch him anyway.
If the conservative talkers are so keen on derailing The Won, why do they avoid this issue?
yes that is true to a point...Dish retrieves their On Demand data from my broadband...(still cable) and then sends it to my requesting TV through a combination of wireless router and electrical grid
but the On Demand system they use is not comparable to Comcast
the delivery is very sluggish, you can only retrieve newer programs that are priced the highest
all the other archived stuff...from shows to movies etc downloads very slow and you wait...hours or days to get it playable
it’s crazy really
but all that 6.99 stuff you can usually pull right up...pron too obviously...I mean for 14.99 it better come right up eh?
whereas on cable everything is right there on On Demand...a different inventory more up to date and instant retrieval
movies and show series whatever
Dish does have a large recording application ..their DVR and it works fair enough..and given the poor On Demand you end up just geting in the habit of recording everything
but say you want to see Shane...Alan Ladd version..show it to my kids or Josey Wales or Blazing Saddles..whatever
you go to archives On Demand cable and if it’s there you just play it and go
on Dish..you have to wait for it to download...if you are lucky..30-45 minutes...usually 3-24 hours
but new high priced stuff is at the front of the line and comes right up
maybe twice in two years have I had an archive event come right up and then it buffered 10-20 times for the entirety
i work late ..every day I have some business to do..and don’t watch any network TV on schedule except some FOX news...so I pull everything off On Demand or otherwise it’s just pot luck on VH1classics or History ot Military or Hunting channel etc
that’s my take
but on a nice TV...Dish is superior in HD..no question..it’s the broadcast frequency..much deeper
This is good to know. Read about it briefly in the Blaze. I haven’t bothered watching TV anymore in years. I unfortunately don’t have Fox in my basic subscription anymore; but I do have great internet speed. Still, I may subscribe to Dish just for this.
yeah, he is on 212. I think he stopped broadcasting at like 3am central time. From what I saw on the tv guide thing, he only had like 4 shows, all day.
I agree with you on the birther thing. I’ve yet to see proof I believe.
I suppose many on the right don’t want to worry about little things like Constitutional requirements because they will be labeled with the racist thing. Can’t have their lil feelings gettin hurt.
I’ve been a subscriber to GBTV/The Blaze since their first show, and that’s all I watch. I can’t stand fox news now. Glenn just added Wilkow as a new show, and he may be even better than Beck. Real News is also a good way to get your daily news. They’re moving fast to add new shows and hire more journalists. Beck is one hell of a business man. I can’t wait to watch him screw with Fox’s ratings.
I live in an apartment and the management company controls our TV access. Years ago we had COX, everyone was happy. Then we were switched to DISH, no one was happy. The signal would be lost if it rained, even with just a heavy cloud over. So many complained we were switched again to FIOS. Its much better, no signal loss.
Long time subscriber to Beck and I am with you on the stale Fox. Actually, Fox is not stale, they have just morphed into just another New York Network.
Just as you said, he is currently looking at adding more shows and Dana Loesch is one I know he is/was in negotiations with.
As far as our migration away from Fox, I also suspect that we are in a transitional state as for our awareness. When Fox first came on the scene, the reason I originally went to satellite (DTV), it was the only thing anywhere with a conservative flavor on TV. Now they are becoming a victim of their own success because their base viewers were also able to discern BS even more quickly and Fox did not move along with their viewer base.
How many of us here had the same feelings for Fox in say 2008 or even in 2004? Hannity was the most conservative talking head on TV. Now he has diminished to just another talking head more impressed with his own voice than honing his ability to debate. He has become nothing more than a referee to a bunch of yapping verbal wrestlers, and a piss poor referee at that.
Then we have BOR. What more needs to be said about the bloviator in chief. He is still more enamored with his status within the news elites than he is of researching a story. He operates off conventional wisdom rather than finding the real story. The only way he will reverse course on any issue will only happen when it affects him personally. Then and only then does he go after it. But as usual a day late and a dollar short. Just like when he berated Beck to his face on the Van Jones Green Czar issue that we had nothing to fear from the communists. Epic Fail.
Now the surprise on Fox is Greta. One little trip to Wasilla turned her from a liberal Hillary lover to one of the best at getting into the faces of Senators and Congressmen about ethics and legal investigations. It appears as though many of them think they can go on there and get their face into a puff interview and she lands one right between the eyes and doesn’t take their crap answers.
Would she be a fit for Beck? Don’t think so because his format requires a person to do more of their own investigation or lead it and Greta just doesn’t seem to be one to be on the cutting edge. She is more of a cleanup person focusing on the loose ends.
So, for me, I will remain a Beck subscriber because my daily schedule will not fit the show schedule. My Roku device gets me all the shows when I want to watch each. Fox is out entirely, except Greta, unless I need breaking news information and even then CNN is better at breaking stuff. First it is Beck. Then I decide whether Real News is next and then Wilkow is really starting to look good.
This is what we need, some in your face stuff on the merits and not backing down to any political pressure.
Uh-oh... I hate to see what Fox will do next. All thats left is to totally strip down the faux barbies so they can retain a few viewers. They have gone so far left I dont watch them anyway. This is probably good news for the men who have nothing left but to sit around in their undies and watch plastic women.
You can get Dana's podcasts here
And Rusty's podcasts here
And Plante's podcasts here
They are the three best hosts out there behind Rush, Levin, Beck, Hannity, Savage and Ingraham.
And they may as well, they have some real crap like Al Bore's and Oprah's 'networks' on that I'm stuck paying for.
I certainly hope so. Fox has gone limp over the last few years and they could use a kick in the keister. They offer almost as much fluff and flapdoodlery, not to mention pomp and circumstance as the rest of the "news" channels. It's not so much what they cover or how they cover it but what they choose not to cover. Pretty rare for them to step outside the subject matter the rest of the newsers cover.
GRRRRREAT news! GRRRRREAT move! HOORAY Glenn Beck! Glenn Beck is OUTSTANDING!
Excelsior!
Thanks for the links. Oddly enough, or not, I listen to radio less than I watch teevee. Can’t abide the noise even when running the roads for an hour or two. If I have passengers, grandkids in particular, they know to bring along their own entertainment. ;^)
BTTT...
This is news many haven’t heard yet!
Glenn’s plan is moving along nicely. Great viewership will drive growth. His network will then be picked up by cable providers. His network will eventually rival, and then surpass, Fox as the true conservative network.
Overall, GREAT news.
-— I, for one, have Dish, and have been looking for something to watch other than Fox. They have grown stale to me. Now, Ill watch Beck. :)-—
Yesterday, Beck said he won’t challenge O’Reilly at 8 pm.
...Yet. LOL
You don't get "The Walking Dead", either, so Dish is not an option for us.
We've been with Directv since they took over Primestar in the late 90s. Lately we've been having constant issues with their DVR (dropouts, freezes). Their reps in India don't know how to fix it, and if they did, their English would make it hard to understand. So unless my husband can find some solution, we may go back to cable, though it's been a long time.
Could someone tell me what The Blaze is? Is it like a FNC with live news and commentary shows? I might be interested in getting this because I think FNC is quickly becoming part of the MSM.
You could just be a Roku for $50.00 and then you could get the channel for $10.00 a month and screw the cable companies.
I think the fact that he’s going back to “cable” shows there’s no end in sight for pay TV.
