Same stuff we have heard for a while now. Supposedly standardized testing can’t be done because certain students don’t understand some of the questions if it has something to do with something they don’t personally “experience” in their cultcha. *yawN*

What it really means is any potential testing that might prove union teachers aren’t doing their jobs is a threat so.....

What this really means is that they are scrambling to find yet more excuses for low test scores among some minorities.

They have peremptorily ruled out any possibility of
1. low intelligence
2. lack of effort
3. inferior culture that discourages achievement

These ridiculous excuses are used to buttress self-esteem (I’m really smarter than test score indicate.) and encourage a victim mentality (”The man” is keeping me down.). Neither the students nor the teachers have to expend much effort to really get / provide an education.

But most of all, these excuses allow the teachers unions to hire ever more teachers, teachers’ aides, curriculum developers, experts, advisers, policy directors, administrators, and managers of special programs to deal with this. In addition, they get to buy new, non-racist textbooks and get kickbacks from the textbook companies.
