The Internal Revenue Service on Tuesday assured congressional lawmakers that agents would play no role in enforcing the controversial requirement that Americans buy insurance under President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.
"IRS revenue agents will not be involved. There will not be audits," IRS Deputy Commissioner Steven Miller told a subcommittee of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.

Yeah, sure and like the cowardly Republicans would do anything anyways.
R-I-G-H-T-!
This is weird. Will they separate the taxes you owe from the “taxes” that are Obamacare related? Sounds unlikely.
They wont be enforcers... until they are...
Non-compliance will be in the millions. Do you think the IRS even has the resources to deal with it on that level?
That’s exactly how I *read* it.
Kinda like the bicycle helmet law in CT, [riders under age 16 *must* wear a helmet].....but there is no penalty to child/parent *if* they don’t wear one.
**Will it cost the government money? “ We won’t do it for your own good.”
Will it make the government money? “We are doing it for your own good.”
This is all you need to know.**
Obama, you lie.
Obamacare called for 19,000 additional IRS agents. I don’t think they were intednded to process medical claim forms.
Except the law specifically forbids enforcement of the person mandate short the IRS keeping a tax refund, so you can just reduce income tax with-holding and not pay it. It was written that way on purpose. That is the irony of the whole debate.
Once people figure that out many will just stay uninsured till sick like they do in NYC, driving up insurance prices.
Ironically it is Republicans who keep implying that this is a real mandate for better or worse.
As the program works, it’ll cost *more* to collect the fees, than the revenue stream *predicted* to generate them. Count on that.
The key is in the semantics. They say “revenue agents” will not be involved.
The enforcers will have a different title.
So if we simply ignore the law there will be no repercussions? /s
Actually the way I understand it, the answer is yes. It seems that to get enough senators on board to pass the bill, the democrats were forced to add a provision baring the IRS from using any of their enforcement mechanisms to collect the tax. So essentially all they can do is send you a letter saying you owe "x" dollars, they also can use any refund you may be due to pay toward the fines, but other than that they can't put any garnishments, bank levy, property seizure or take you to court over them. So as long as you can fiddle with your taxes so you don't get a refund at the end of the year, you can ignore the mandate with impunity.
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha - pssst does HUSSEIN Carter Obama know?
