Statement from Embassy....

"The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.."

WOW! That'll stop em from scaling the wall!!!

So much for the sovereignty of the Embassy grounds.

It’s not that important to Obama voters, most of whom couldn’t find Egypt on a map. They are instead interested in “programs” in the USA.

One American dead so far. I think some 40mm in the immediate area of the Embassy should be laid down by a drone

I believe you are correct about Tehran. It would have been a bloodbath, and the State employees would later need the Marines to keep them in shape, and focused. I think you mistook the .38s for model 19 S&W .357 magnums: that was what they were carrying at the time; and they soon after changed to the M9 standard issue 9mm. A mistake in my opinion. And yes, we had a lot more toys to play with; but they were less visible. I will say that this event has less to do about the acts of the Marines, and more towards the inaction of the host government. Good discussion.

I just assumed they were .38s. Thanks for setting me straight. I could never understand why the U.S. military opted for the 9mm to replace the .45. Must’ve been to accommodate the NATO allies. We changed from the old U.S. phonetic alphabet (able, baker, Charlie, dog, etc) to the NATO phonetics (alpha, bravo, Charlie, delta) to integrate with them. For many years, the first guy I saw every morning was an MSG, and the last guy I saw when I was leaving was an MSG. And if my phone rang at 0330, it would be Post One informing me that my presence was required at the embassy. Can’t tell you how much time I’ve spent in Marine Houses.

Actually, the weapons the MSGs used were part of the approved State Department weaponry. I loved the Uzis! I think they switched to the M9 because it was easier in terms of qualification and logisitics (the Marines were used to them). And yes, I've called in many to the embassy at zero-dark-thirty.

Warmest Regards.

The State Department never let us carry any weapons off the embassy, saying it was “incompatible with our diplomatic status.”. The most dangerous place I’d ever served at was Lagos, Nigeria, even worse than Saigon or Baghdad, as far as personal security goes. We weren’t permitted to leave Victoria Island where the embassy and quarters were located without an armed Nigerian security agent in the vehicle with us. Only times I was in Lagos proper were to and from the airport.

I don’t get it. Liberals keep telling us that the World loves America now that Obama is President.
