Trump: If Republicans 'don't get tough, they're not going to win this election'
The Hill ^ | 09/10/12 | Justin Sink

Posted on 09/10/2012 4:51:00 PM PDT by KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle

Real estate mogul Donald Trump said Monday that Republicans have "got to get tougher" in order to prevail this November, saying he thought their handling of President Obama was "unbelievable."

“The one thing I have to tell the Republicans, they’ve got to get tougher," Trump said during an interview with Fox News. "If they don’t get tough, they’re not going to win this election.”

Trump went on to say that Republicans were "pandering" to the president, and compared their current strategy to that of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in his 2008 presidential campaign.

“Well, I think there are a lot of ways of getting tough," Trump said. "I think they’re pandering to Obama. I think they’re being so nice to Obama. It’s unbelievable. And John McCain made that mistake. He absolutely made that mistake and you know they’re just afraid to attack this man and he should be attacked.”

The reality television star conceded that he thought Democrats might have run a better convention — and benefited from not sharing headlines with the landfall of Hurricane Isaac.

“Let’s face it, I think the Republican convention first of all was hurt by the hurricane, or lack of hurricane, you know the hurricane never really hit heavy in Tampa but I guess they probably had to do what they did," Trump said. "But the fact is that the Democrats gave a great convention, there’s no question about it.”

Trump added that he felt that the Republicans did not include the right mixture of voices at their party convention — mentioning Sarah Palin by name, but also possibly referring to himself. A Trump "surprise event" planned for Monday at the Republican convention was canceled because of the storm.

"I think frankly I would have liked to have seen Sarah Palin speak," Trump said. "I would have liked to have seen some people speak that weren’t invited to speak and you know I think the Republicans did not have the right speakers. They had a lot of people that people say, ‘who are they, where did they come from?’ "

In my part of Northern Virginia the Romney campaign is nonexistent.

The progressive side is all about having a street fight for the presidency and Romney seems to be trying to play a board game to see who’ll be the winner.

Guess what, Mitt: A baseball bat beats Boardwalk and Park Place any day. Keep playing the wrong game and you’re going to get slaughtered.

Friggin’ Taxachusetts pansy!

What awesome what?

If you mean the geeksquad from Massachusetts, those are the people Romney needed to dump a long time ago ~ like when they lost to Teddy Kennedy.

As much as I agree, they were doing a great job for awhile. They combated the war on women theme and killed it off at the time, and turned just about every attempted attack right back at the Obama. Now, I am not sure where they went. Since the bizarre Obamacare ruling, they seemed to disappear.

According to what I’ve learned, people SAY they don’t like negative ads, but in spite of that, they work.

Something scared them into becoming the McCain campaign. Mitt looked up to the task until the convention and has lost some steam since the Dems beat him up last week.
Perhaps those anonymous folks really did get a hold of his tax returns and are holding them hostage. Either way, he better stiffen his spine bc Obobo is ready to play dirty.

Is Romney another left wing Republican sell out?

Well he's already sold out on the "repeal of obamacare". He has decided that some of it will be good for us. When I heard that I lost all hope of him being able to win. I swore I would never vote for him, but the thought of obama sealing his dictatorship scares me to death. The whole thing is one big disaster. We are done for. If we could get the base to vote for him, we would have to hit D.C. as soon as he was sworn in and try to force him to repeal. Is that any kind of hope?

“you and donald are right.
make waves and get tough and stop going on these left wing sunday talk shows .

no one cares about that crap anymore and you get misquoted and set up.”

Exactly, and tell the SRM to stuff their Obama butt-kissing dog and pony show debates up their arses. Those moderators will do everything they can, obviously, to damage R&R. Tell them to have Levin, or Rush as one of the mods or we’re not showing up. The networks can show Bari Shabazz playing with himself for 2 hours for all I care! The SRM are the enemy! Screw them!

“Rush explained it clear enough. If Republicans lose, the entire party is done.”

We should be so lucky that the gop will go the way of the whigs and leave an opening for a conservative second party. No, it’ll continue to slither along much the way it has and claim that the reason why it’s candidate lost was because he was TOO conservative.

Donald Trump said Monday that Republicans have "got to get tougher"

I said as much to the RNC the other day when they (or rather, their telemarketers) called me looking for a donation -- specifically for Romney/Ryan. I told them no $$ from me unless they show that they are willing to FIGHT!

We've seen Romney fight dirty in the primaries, so it's not that he can't do it. I suspect Ryan is up for the battle, but will he be allowed? I feel like we've seen this movie before...

Mittster is saving up all the money he raised the last few months for 2016, when he can use it all against his conservative primary opponents./sarc

I beleive Mittens has the same “expert” advisors as the idiots who attacked the Tea Party and Palin before that. They have limo liberal, socialist instincts.

Isn’t this peachy:

Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan spoke out against the Chicago Teachers Union strike on Monday, saying he stands behind Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s opposition to the demonstration.

“Mayor Emanuel is right today in saying that this teacher’s union strike is unnecessary and wrong,” Ryan said in Portland, Ore., according to a pool report transcript. “We know that Rahm is not going to support our campaign, but on this issue and this day we stand with Mayor Rahm Emanuel.”

In teachers’ strike, Emanuel pushing Democrats’ new view

The hard-nosed stance taken by Mayor Rahm Emanuel in the Chicago teachers’ strike dovetails with the goals espoused by new Democrats

How lovely

As I said on another thread Romney needs to stop bouncing up on the stage grinning from ear to ear. What’s happening in this country is nothing to smile about.

The hard-nosed stance taken by Dead Fish Rahmbo was designed to allow Zero to come in as the moderate, reasonable one and broker a compromise. Ryan standing with Rahm neutralizes that dynamic.
