With two months to Election Day, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney faces the disconcerting reality that he isn't winning most of the states he would need to beat President Barack Obama.
Mr. Obama is leading Mr. Romney by small margins in seven of the eight battleground states, all but North Carolina, according to averages of public polls compiled by RealClearPolitics. All are within the margins of error.
"Our problem in our country is not that we're not paying enough taxes," Mr. Romney said. "It's that we're spending too much money and the economy is not growing as it could and should."
"It's still a very difficult economic environment, and there's plenty of time for Romney to rally," said Mark McKinnon, a former political adviser to President George W. Bush. "Sixty days is like sixty years in political time."

He is quoting the Pulitico piece.
This election cycle is the most frustrating of my lifetime. Obama is the most destructive force in our history and you have leftists, ABRs, holier than thous , marxists, communists, all ready to continue this destruction for four more years.
I’ll bet it was Sandy Fluke the condom lady who got all the Oh...bah...mah zombies all riled up. How did this once great country turn into a sh*thouse so fast?
I am honestly firmly convinced that many here on FreeRepublic really don’t want Obama defeated. I’m not a psychologist, but it seems that so many would rather complain about the “bad candidate” than actually do something about it.
Here in Western PA, I have still not seen an Obama sign. I have seen plenty of Romney/Ryan signs, including the two in my own yard.
PPP stating on Twitter that their new Ohio poll has it 50-45. +2 from their last one. And PPP is a partisan Democrat pollster.
What do you expect from a country where the biggest TV Star is “Honey Boo Boo”?
Sorry...he’s run a good campaign. If we lose it’s not because we didn’t run Newt, Michelle or whatever pure conservative you think should have won the primary. It’s because Obama has brainwashed too many.
Yes I saw it. I laughed.
The Gravitas Marketing poll is the latest on Rass. and it had Romney up.
When did his own people say that? Are you taking some Politoho hack writer’s word for it? No way in heck Obama is up 9 in OH.
Pretty weak and blatantly transparent for a troll!
And when it comes to immigration, the editorial page is as leftwing as they come, both in the policies they advocate and the shameless, guilt-ridden rhetoric they use.
Conservatism can turn from a viewpoint with larger reasons to exist into a fetish of its own accord, and then this sort of thing happens. More respectable are the folks who map out some kind of plausible plan for how Peroting Obama back into office will be a better long term strategy for taking the country “back.” They may or may not be correct about the chances for their plan, but at least they are being rational about it.
I’ll vote for the dirtbag. But make no mistake about it, he IS a dirtbag. And if he loses, it will be because the GOP powers-that-be stuck us with the worst conceivable candidate: an unprincipled, fabian socialist empty-suit RINO magic-underwear wearing Myth.
I swear the GOP has a death wish.
Hank
Vote against Obama will be very strong. I will vote against Obama and I am Independent.
His own ppl today said he is behind in OH around 9 points.

Semi reasonable people who used to have a home in the Democrats are now spurned by same Rats. So they find a home in the GOP and it embraces territory that part of the Democrats used to.
no- i think its pretty much true if you think the election will turn out as the polls predict- which i don’t since there’s 1) a 5% gap between the number of people who consider themselves Republican versus those who consider themselves rats and 2) the enthusiasm gap...
what these papers seem to avoid reporting are the polls that show obama watching his support in blue states (Connecticut, NJ, New Mexico) that gave him a huge advantage in ‘08 slowly diminish...
my point is not that Romney will win NJ or CT or NM rather don’t tell me that as obama struggles with single digit advantages in state he won by a 13%, 15%, 18% in ‘08, he’s going to win states he squeaked by in 2008 by 3%, 1%, 5%...
