Obama Widens Lead over Romney; 48% of US Give Obama Good or Excellent Marks

President Barack Obama, picking up support following the Democratic National Convention, widened his narrow lead over Republican U.S. presidential challenger Mitt Romney in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Saturday.

The latest daily tracking poll showed Obama, a Democrat, with a lead of 4 percentage points over Romney. Forty-seven percent of 1,457 likely voters surveyed online over the previous four days said they would vote for Obama if the November 6 elections were held today, compared with 43 percent for Romney.

“The bump is actually happening. I know there was some debate whether it would happen… but it’s here,” said Ipsos pollster Julia Clark, referring to the “bounce” in support that many presidential candidates enjoy after nominating conventions.

Obama had leapfrogged Romney in the daily tracking poll on Friday with a lead of 46 percent to 44 percent.

The president’s lead comes despite a mixed reaction to his convention speech on Thursday night in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Friday’s government data showing that jobs growth slowed sharply last month. [Read more from this story HERE].

Lets say this poll is off by 10%. So what? You mean there are 38% of people who think this jerk is doing an excellent job? How about 20% wrong? You mean there are 28% of people who this this jerk is doing an excellent job? Extrapolated to the whole country that would be 75 million or so adults who are so breathtakingly stupid or craven or ignorant or bribed to actually think this way! Well Kenny, I have to believe that after the viciousness of the primaries, after Romney operatives figuratively knifed his rivals until the blood was up to a horse's bridle (just a little waxing poetic from Scripture), that he would go into the general campaign and play Mister Nice Guy and throw the damn election the way that stupid oaf McCain did in '08.

I think (and I admit I could be wrong here) that Romney is setting up 0bama for the big knockout. He's smiling and dancing around the ring, won't say very many (if any) mean words about 0bama personally, but when they get into the corner at debate time, 0bama is going to realize that he's been rope-a-doped, he won't see it coming, and Romney is going to land that big KO, and in fact he might even provoke Bammy into saying something so utterly stupid that he will knock himself out and the whole damn country will see it happen.

We can hope anyway, right? ;)

In all seriousnous. If these polls are right and the marxist wins, what would be a good country to emigrate to. I may come into a large sum of money in the future and and I don’t want the communists to confiscate it. Don’t get me wrong. American was the greatest country in the history of the world. Our founding fathers gave us an incredible republic with liberties and a Bill of Rights. But if these polls are right, it is quite apparent that a godless welfare state is coming. The new enemy will be the working middle class and the capitalists that give us employment. I’m tire of trying to educate zombies about the history of this great country. After the downfall of Soviet communism, I thought people would not want to add Obama’s picture to Marx, Engels, Trotsky, Che Guevera, Castro, chairman Mao, etc. What are some good countries that will accept American expats?

You just KNOW there won't be any bias in their questions ...

If I was Romney, I would simply give a head-nod acknowledgement to the "question" and then proceed to answer the question that they should have asked which would be the one that I really want to answer to get my perspective out. You can't answer their questions without accepting the premise that they want presented. They aren't looking for truthful information. They want to prevent you from disagreeing with them or make you look stupid if you attempt to.

2012 is an important year to remember 9/11 because our younger generations are the most in danger of forgetting what really happened.

Or worse, our younger generations are susceptible to getting a politically correct view of 9/11. Many on the Left have tried to turn 9/11 into a “day of national service” or a celebration of tolerance, instead of remembering that radical jihad attacked this nation because of our western values.

2008 taught me not to ignore polls I don’t like. Shows a tight race that can go either way. Imagine where would we be with a candidate that didn’t suck.

President Obama has two great sources of electoral power.

The first, as you say, is this —

I don’t pay taxes. Other people do. President Obama promises to take from them and give to me. What’s not to like?

Second is this. He has brown skin. I have brown skin. Therefore, he is doing a good job.

It’s an almost unbeatable combination. By contrast, a white guy with persistent 8 percent unemployment would be toast.
