....Whatever lessons the Democrats take from Charlotte, whatever it did for the president or for the ambitious senators and governors who stalked delegate breakfasts and whispered 2016, this is a fact: The convention was successfully trolled.
I dont use troll in the pejorative sense. Actually, I may be trying to craft a neutral meaning of troll where none previously existed. The term, in its modern Internet usage, refers to people who want to start fights online to bring the universe into an argument on their terms. It comes not from Grimm literature, but from a fishing technique in which multiple lines are baited and dragged to haul in the maximum amount of cold-bloods.
Democrats did not expect to spend Wednesday arguing about the capital of Israel and the appearance of the word God in their platform. There were, reportedly, 15,000 members of the media in Charlotte, of whom maybe 14,980 could have given a damn about the party platform. On Tuesday night, when the Obama campaign and the DNC released its platform, none of the bigfoot media outlets in town spent time on the text.
No, it took until Wednesday morning for Jeff Dunetz, at the YidWithALid blog, to comment that Democrats have removed this pro-Israel section from their platform......At 11:26 a.m., Weekly Standard reporter Daniel Halper published a story on the platform, making the same point. (He credited YidWithALid.)
It could have ended there. But within a few hours, CNN and Fox News were browbeating Democrats to ask why theyd changed the platformwhy, too, had they removed an old reference to God-given talents, and thus deleted YHWH from the text? Democrats gave up........
................who thought, just 11 months after the launch of the Occupy movement, that 99 percenters would have less influence on the platform than conservative media?...............

Ping for later
The internet has become a force.
The First Dictator was so self-congratulatory (as usual) in ‘08 when he bragged that he was on the cutting edge of internet politics and fund-raising. In 2012, his bunch looks very far behind the curve in both.
Live by the internet, die by the internet.
Awe, they got a little sour taste of their own medicine and cry “It’s not fair!”. Slime, all of them!
Funny line about DWS! :)
Good.
Any change to the DNC party platform required a voice vote of 2/3’s of the majority of convention delegates. The speaker stated that President Obama asked for support of this platform change.
The speaker called for voice vote of the “Ayes” and the “Nays”.. then he hesitated.
The speaker then called for a second voice vote of the “Ayes” and the “Nays”.. then he hesitated.
After another longer hesitation, the speaker then called for a third voice vote of the “Ayes” and the “Nays”.
The speaker then announced that the motion was passed , despite the obvious excess of “Nay” voice votes.
This was an enlightening expierience in what to expect from the party and how non-responsive it is to its own constituents.
Can we exect anything different from the party candidate ?
I think not .. !!
Some kinds of trolls may be like honest fishermen, but others are cowardly miscreants hiding in the darkness whose ultimate effect is the shedding of innocent blood.
Cass Sunstein knows about these latter kinds of trolls.
“Dave Weigel sure has a short memory.
Apparently, its now considered trolling to accurately report what Democrats do ”

An 'unforced error'? Unforced error? That's a LIE. If a Republican had said an 'unforced error' the suck-ups in the MSM would call it a lie. And a troll is based on the creeps under a bridge. They were originally liberal liars who came to conservative sites and pretended to be conservatives - using the lie to make Republicans look bad.
David Weigel shows a small promise of being able to see things as they really are - but he is totally wrong on the above.
On the contrary. Unlike their prescriptions, they got unadulterated medicine, and couldn't handle it.
I do take issue with the use of trolling.
The dems changed their platform, YidWithALid bothered to read the new platform, and pointed out the differences.
How's that trolling? In the real world, naturally.
They removed God from their party and platform. This wouldn’t be an issue if they weren’t concerned about giving an illusion of “righteousness” before the public.
Jesus warned against this behavior.
Matthew 6:5
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.”
Again with Slate.com going off the liberal reservation. It’s amazing how sometimes the truth, like a pernicious weed, can push its way through the toughest pavement and into the light of day.
The libs own the mass media yet they still complain. If the mass media was fair and balanced Romney would be leading by 10 points
Take that, Flatline Media.
15,000 members of the media??? Where were the delegates? Oh, right. They were locked out by The Fire Marshall.
"View from the enemy camp" bump. We just might be making inroads.
