Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., as chair of the House Budget Committee, was part of the team that signed off on the budget deal with the White House, mandating immediate spending cuts, creating a "Super-committee" tasked to finding $1.5 trillion in further deficit rediction, and raising a self-imposed sword of Damocles - $1.2 trillion in cuts to the Pentagon and domestic spending that few in Congress wanted - if the Super-committee failed.

"And that's a big mistake," Romney said. "I thought it was a mistake on the part of the White House to propose it. I think it was a mistake for Republicans to go along with it."
If I did not know Romney said this I would have swore a Liberal said it. Goodness.
He was talking about sequester for Defense on budget deal, not the overall deal.
They are supposed to be a team.
Lesson number 1: NEVER say anything negative about your running mate 60 days before election.
I don’t see anything wrong with what he said. He is right. And a lot of legislators come back after the fact and say.....wish I hadn’t done that. Maybe Ryan is having regrets.
Good ol YaHOO news will pick and choose, hoping Republicans will lose!!!
Bah!
Article doesn’t doesn’t give any of the conversation.
It’s just a teaser quote.
Hardly anyone, right or left, liked the deal- for all kinds of reasons.
Mitt Happens is a liberal.
I’m not still not voting for him.
Keep that in mind when you read his criticism of cutting spending and the deficit.
There is nothing he really disagrees about with Obama.
It was a stupid deal, agreed to by the Stupid Party.
Including Allen West!!!
Ryan already said he regrets it. Big time.
At the same time,
Mr. Willard Romney PRAISED
exPOTUS Clinton.
THAT is worse than McCain, BTW.
Yep. But for once I agree with Romney on the substance, but disagree with him on the politics. This budget deal was a trap that the Republicans fell into, including Paul Ryan. For Romney to point that out now, just gives the media more fodder to report on a “rift” in the Republican party, taking away time we need to spend attacking Obama. However, to give credit where it’s due, some Republicans including Todd Akin voted against this raw deal. So Romney is with Todd Akin on this one.
They never learn AND its always someone else’s fault.
I like the politics. First, that was a total garbage deal and slashed defense for little other gain. IMO, the Boehnner/McConnell team misplayed that whole thing so bad, it is what gave life back to Obama in this campaign. Romney is fighting to reverse those cuts in his campaign, and this supports that promise.
Also, if we will all remember, Ryan was amazingly completely absent from that debate. The leadership team was in the negotiations, and Ryan was not included by them. He was busy with other hearings. Ryan surely voted for it as he reports to the leadership, but he was not materially involved. He did one big sunday morning interview in the midst of it, and it was clear he was not at the table. He spoke of it in distant terms.
I am fine with Romney distancing himself from the GOP congressional leadership, as well as from the bush years. He needs to run as a leader that moves us past this current course.
I’m sure once Romney learns Todd Akin was against it he’ll take a different positon again.
I agree. It is time for some real leadership. Boehner and McConnell need to go. No more wimps, no more wimps, no more wimps. I have caller ID and until the Republicans start plowing the field, I am not picking up the phone. They better hurry up if they want a donation from me again.
All we have is the previous actions while in office to gauge our votes. I don't care what they say today, when they were in office...What is their voting record and what did they accomplish. Romney is looking weak on that issue.
That budget deal was retarded, I knew it would come back to bite them
“Im not still not voting for him.”
nobody cares ... and quit talking you have removed yourself from the process....lol
