Finally, the fall season offers the matchup sure to attract the biggest audience of the campaign: President Barack Obama goes one-on-one with Republican rival Mitt Romney in three prime-time debates.
Typically the top political draw in the final sprint to Election Day, the debates assume outsized importance this year with the race a dead heat...

I will not watch I will vote, period!
I agree. By now, we all know who we will vote for. I’ll watch something else.
The Ryan-Biden debates may be more entertaining.
Agreed on “will not watch”. By now, everyone should know what’s at stake in this election. No reason to allow one’s blood pressure to soar watching the Marxists in the MSM officiate either.
I would like to see them basically ignore questions of that kind with a simple blowing off of the question by saying the American people aren't watching this debate to hear “gotcha Journalism” quickly followed by an answer to a question not asked but which R&R would like to have had asked such as regarding jobs and the economy, etc.
The Seinfeld Debates.
A show about nothing.
Romney needs to have Newt prepping him not Portman!
These will be more media-led discussions on free contraceptives, gay marriage, Sandra Fluke’s being “shut out”, rape, how-much-they-love-their-wives, Syria, tax rates on millionaires, tax returns (not college records), Bain Capital, Iraq (um, that war is over), who-is-their-hero (it won’t be Allinsky), how-do-we-unify...
Romney will lose the election if he doesn’t somehow turn every single question back to how Obama has destroyed jobs and decimated the economy, and how to grow again, and how Obama has abused power.
“Thanks for the question, Candy. My answer is “Yes, states can decide who can marry each other. The issue all couples care about is how we reduce our debt as soon as possible...”

I was thinking the very same thing. Smack the moderators around, refuse to answer gotcha questions and tell the viewers what questions should be asked and then answer those. Screw the moderators’ biased questions.
Yep. Neutralize the moderators’ power to pick the fluff and gotcha questions, and then talk about what the voters are really concerned about.
Yes! If Romney does (kindly, calmly) throw each gotcha question back at them, people start watching and he wins.
One gotcha he does need to answer soon: specifics on how to reduce the deficit and cut taxes; which loopholes is he dropping? What’s he cutting? That question is surely coming.
Don’t expect to learn much from the debates ,,, they will look more like an infomercial selling four more years of 0bama . Mitt should do what Newt did ,,, call out the moderators for throwing softballs to 0bama and curves to him . Mitt should tell the moderators what questions to ask the usurper in chief .
“It’s the economy stupid.” Obama has already lost this election. The only question is by how much. You can see it in him, in his campaign and among his supporters. They all know it’s over. As well it should be.
I fear Romney is one of those kind of guys that doesn’t think well on his feet; the type who needs to take time to analyze the intent of the question and research it to be able to provide the best / correct answer. I’m one of those types myself. I think Obama will look better on the debate floor because he’s trigger happy with bs responses because he says what he thinks the American people want to hear not what he really thinks and gives off an aura of confidence. I’m sure he will already have a list of the debate questions and his typical canned responses ready. Public speaking is one of his fortes after all. Hopefully the American people will pick up on this and see that O is not sincere in his reponses per the norm.
He also needs someone who understands who Obama is,weaknesses as well as strengths. The media will play to his strengths, Romney needs to lay bare the weaknesses. Keep Obama off balance, something McCain was too timid to do making himself the weak one. Portman doesn’t strike me as that kind of guy...
Romney was in a boatload of debates during the ridiculous interminable GOP primary “season”. The One hasn’t been in a real debate ever. And his last was against John McCain. Not concerned in the least.
“Dead heat”. Sure.
That will be everyone’s story right up until the blowout.
