Actually, he did no such thing. Many German Protestants were only too happy to restyle themselves as "German Christians" and hang the swastika next to the cross of Christ. Most of the remaining Protestants took a "neutral" stand toward Nazism.
The only Christian sect to be completely banned by Hitler was the Jehovah's Witnesses, who deserve eternal credit for their courage in standing up to him.
