Ridding the U.S. of oil-based energy and avoiding the catastrophic consequences of climate change are the primary goals of the Democratic Party platform released this week that labeled the planets temperature variations as a national security crisis.
We must end the tyranny of oil in our time, the platform said. This immediate danger is eclipsed only by the longer-term threat from climate change, which will lead to devastating weather patterns, terrible storms, drought, conflict, and famine. That means people competing for food and water in the next fifty years in the very places that have known horrific violence in the last fifty: Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. That could also mean destructive storms on our shores, and the disappearance of our coastline, the platform said.
The U.S. is no longer public enemy number one when it comes to greenhouse gas emissions that distinction now goes to China. Other offending countries include the U.S., India, Russia and the European Union, the platform said.
Democrats want to conquer climate change through the creation of a global energy forum, which they would reach out to the offending nations to join in order to establish new climate protocols. We need a global response to climate change that includes binding and enforceable commitments to reducing emissions, especially for those that pollute the most.
Without dramatic changes, rising sea levels will flood coastal regions around the world. Warmer temperatures and declining rainfall will reduce crop yields, increasing conflict, famine, disease, and poverty. By 2050, famine could displace more than 250 million people worldwide. That means increased instability in some of the most volatile parts of the world, the platform said.
Never again will we sit on the sidelines, or stand in the way of collective action to tackle this global challenge, the platform said.
Breaking the countrys addiction to foreign oil calls for a Manhattan or Apollo Project-level commitment.
We hear that call and we Democrats commit to fast-track investment of billions of dollars over the next ten years to establish a green energy sector that will create up to five million jobs, the platform said.
It will not be easy, but neither was getting to the moon, the platform said.
[[which will lead to devastating weather patterns, terrible storms, drought, conflict, and famine]]
So basically what htey are saying is that the earth is goign to suffer what it has suffered already for the past few thousand years? Only now it’s goign to be ‘man’s fault’? I say that taxing peopel even further causing massive loss of hoems and an inability ot feed our families because of massively high energy prices and carbon taxes will infact be Mann’s fault (michael mann that is)
[[They can rant, say a provable falsehood, or make it painfully clear that theyre living in lala land, personally attack Mitt or Ryan,]]
I’m stil ltryign to decifer the secret racist code that the GOP apparently is speaking in unbeknownst to everyoen except democrats evidently- So to sum up, accordign to the left, Romeny haqtes women, hates poor people, hates peopel of color, hates the middle class, hates the president, hates doctors, hates nurses, hates teachers, hates blue collar workers, hates old people, hates sick people, hates women with cancer, and he’s a felon and a murderer to boot!
I think the attacks on Mitt have already begun
Yup. That is one hell of a code. And here he manages to pass himself off as a totally passionless career politician. Little did we know that he’s another Pol Pot, out to save America by massacring half of it.
They lost electricity in a freak October snowstorm, not a flood. The snowstorm was supposedly caused by "global warming" or more specifically Arctic amplification, but that is BS like much of what they say about global warming.
We don’t use much oil to produce electricity. Somewhere around one to three percent of our generation is from oil.
We use coal (50%), gas (20%), nuclear (20%) and hydro (7%) to produce electricity.
Oil is mainly for transportation.
“We dont use much oil to produce electricity. Somewhere around one to three percent of our generation is from oil.
We use coal (50%), gas (20%), nuclear (20%) and hydro (7%) to produce electricity.”
I find it hilarious that the very liberal Northeast is one of the only developed places on Earth where oil is used for heating. This is one of the most idiotic uses for oil that I can think of in the modern era - it should have been banned 40 years ago.
Yup. About 2% of oil consumption is for heating, and here are the top five heating oil consuming states (in order): NY, MA, PA, CT and NJ.
They always make this comparison but that was always basic physics with known science. These people are demanding something that does not exist according to known science. A recipe for a trillion dollar boondoggle.
There was flooding and a lot of property damage because of it.
Tney get all goofy-eyed when anyone mentions "enforceable" and "mandatory" anything. Mandating and enforcing are their primary preoccupations. They want to stand over every living person on earth with a whip.
Oh, wait -- they did that. Back before the Civil War.
Remember that this stuff all began as a codicil to the Communist Party platform in Canada -- it was all about "ten more reasons we need a command economy", and why only total state power, administered by ideologically-correct Communists, would suffice to solve society's problems.
Canadian Communist Maurice Strong lifted the ecological planks out of the old Communist Party platform of the 70's and retooled it for the Rio Conference in 1991 ..... and sold it to Al Gore. That's where Red became Green -- but it's the same old crock. Now they just say it the other way 'round, but it's the same old command-economy, command-everything b.s. the Communists have been selling for 120 years. Longer than that, even -- the Paris Commune was 1870, and the Reds were in the middle of the 1848 communist revolts that failed ..... sending droves of Reds our way. (A couple of them became generals for Abe Lincoln. Carl Schurz even ended up on a purple U.S. 4-cent stamp in the early 1970's. Guy was a Commie! -- guess someone put one over on Tricky Dick!)
They can argue it round or argue it flat -- but two things are always "true": 1) It's your fault, and 2) We're going to police you up, right now.
This platform of the Dems is very revealing!
Escellent Idea....they might get desperate and seek to build the keystone pipeline then.
LOL!
Check out what Governor Moonbeam is up to in Kalifornia....
Thanks for the History notes.
“...to establish a green energy sector that will create up to five million jobs, the platform said.”
...like the last few years and billions of dollars did?
Hmmm, they’ve become more crafty...now it’s “up to”... “up to” includes 30, five, and nothing.
We need our own government on our own side.
We need our own companies on our own side.
We have for too long adopted policies which WEAKEN our nation, and China is rapidly approaching a passing lane.
Wake the heck up people.
This is not a game. America is losing.
