I love Free Republic. I enjoy posting and reading other peoples insights and ideas. But I'm troubled and confused by the fact that while we all post and read daily the horrible things that Barack Obama is doing to our great nation, we are encouraged to "sit this one out" or vote third party. I understand Mr. Robinson owns this site and agree with his views on probably most every subject. I appreciate the stand he has taken and how he has always been true to his beliefs. He has provided an outlet that is invaluable to the Conservative community.
We've been through one day of the Democratic convention and I'm terrified. Mitt Romney wasn't even my fifth choice, but, my God, what an Obama with no fear of running in another election will do with four more years is unfathomable. And he doesn't need Congress, the man rules by Executive Fiat. I don't want to live under Socialism, I don't want to have my church forced to act against its conscience, I don't want my guns taken away and my (limited) wealth redistributed. I was shocked when God was taken out of the Dems platform. They don't even try to hide their disdain for a higher power, just blatantly remove God from their entire belief system. Basically show their hand that they want Jerusalem taken away from Israel. I can't take it anymore! I hear how eloquent Michelle Obama's speech was and I want to be sick. All lies! My family contains many military members, mostly Marines, they are sickened by their CIC. We were brought up to respect the Office of the President, but I'm finding it harder and harder to do every day. My sister is out of work after 30 years at the same company, and she is in a deep depression. My elderly mother is in a nursing home and is still finding it hard to find a primary care doctor and Obamacare hasn't even fully kicked in!
I live in NY and could vote for Mickey Mouse and it would make no difference. But I just can't sit around and hope others will do what I won't and vote for Romney/Ryan. So, yes, I will admit to compromising some of my conservative principles in voting Romney/Ryan because I don't think we will survive as a nation with four more years of Obama. Ryan helps make that decision a little easier. And with all Romney's flip-flops, I still think he will help this country in ways Obama the in-over-his- head President never could. The stakes in this election are just to damn high.
You got a mouse in your pocket? Who's this "us" you keep talking about? The ones that think that Romney holds 85% of our positions? Those people are not on this forum. BTW, were born with psychic skills or did they develop later?
Your sort of conservative would rather sit on his ass and whine then ever actually get in the game and move the political ball towards the end zone.
Too bad you didn't bring your psychic skills to bear on this observation. Then you would have known that I have been working for real conservatives on the state and local level. I just won't lift a finger for Romney.
You sort of conservative is the useful idiot of the Democrat propaganda machine
My kind of conservative? You mean someone not so delusional as to believe that Romney holds 85% of my beliefs?
There you are again with that "us" nonsense.
Trust me - when I think of the word "smart", MNJohnnie is not anywhere on the radar screen.
So it is "political cowardice" to present my views, defend them, and endure the insults from people like you? Why don't you take your "smarts" and please explain political courage.
Don't worry God and Jerusalem are back into the DNC platform as of today.
I've no tolerance for what I call Pontius Pilate voters. They're afraid to take stand with the one man left as the last alternative to four more years of Obama so they wash their hands of it and don't vote or push to vote for 3rd party crackpots. They're cowards, every last one.
All I have to say to wrap up this thread is I thought more people actually read what was written before posting. We complain about education, staying informed, etc but flip out and post based on a title?
I am voting for Romney/Ryan, and was always voting for the Republican nominee if you’ve ever read any of my posts. To those that were honest in this discussion, either way, stating their case thank you. To those that just called me an idiot and stupid because they never got past the title, if your going to comment on something, at least be smart enough to read what you’re commenting on.
If you object to being treated like an idiot, stop acting like one.
Only an idiot thinks 100% of nothing is better then 75% of something
Just because you keep asserting that Romney holds to 75-85% of conservative views doesn't make it true. His record says something much different.
I'm still waiting on an explanation of political cowardice. Of all your bizarre allegations, that is the most perplexing.
