I don’t think we’d have to have food shortages to trigger off some serious rioting. I believe our biggest cities will erupt in race riots if Obama is defeated in Nov.

Another lesson from Somalia, besides gangs trying to hijack food relief supplies, is that even in hell-holes, they will still have cell phones. Even today, in Somalia, you can make calls and send texts. Or in Afghanistan, for that matter.

That would be a lot of troops. Where do those troops come from?
They’ll try, but cell phones, like computers, always seek out “work arounds.” For example, during riots and natural disasters, to cut down on circuit overloading, the local phone prefixes can be blocked. But if you have a phone with outside prefixes or another area code, they will still work. IOW, cell phones will still be in play. (This is a good reason to carry a cell phone with an out of state area code. It will still work during a disaster or other crisis.)

I think blacks are becoming embarrassed by him, and more importantly perhaps, FOR him. He has failed them, they won't say it openly, but I believe enough of them want him off the stage that it will be one big collective sigh when he's voted out.
Yes, a small minority of the normal culprits will attempt to cause problems, but I don't see a lot of "joining in" by the masses. Just my two cents.

By the time that happens, (checkpoints searching for firearms), vigilante action will already be underway.
The vigilantes will consider anybody searching for firearms to be just one more set of enemies to shoot at. A checkpoint can’t protect itself from sniper attack without a vast ring of counter-snipers, UAVs overhead, etc.
That kind of manpower simply does not exist.
As the British Army how things went after they were initially welcomed with open arms as peacekeepers by the Catholics in Norther Ireland in 1969.
As soon as the checkpoints went up, the real war began.
Plenty of worms out back in the compost heap. If you can make it up here during SHTF, I’ll even spot you some ammo... ;-)
If things get that bad, current troops will be more concerned with the safety of their own families. Expect a number of desertions. For Reserves and National Guard, quite a few may decline to show up, it it means firing on friends and relatives.
One tactic would be to recruit "urban underclass" males, give them brief training, issue them Army uniforms and weapons, and have them man the checkpoints. After a few atrocities committed by "urban youth" masquerading as military, things will get truly ugly.
the only oversight i see Matt, is the ability of the MUYs to accept/integrate a whoooole bunch of their trained comrades into leadership positions...
of course, 'ethnic' types who stand for FReedom and join the suburbian will be a great asset to us as well...
At the very least, enraged and starving urban dwellers can hold the critical infrastructure running through their areas hostage. They will snipe at highway traffic and landing airplanes, they will sabotage rail lines and pipelines and fiber-optic commo cables, etc. They can cause massive disruptions to the outside society simply by sabotage, in order to demand the resumption of free food.
Think "football stadium and concertina wire".
The people who most need to consider this scenario, the enabler class of middle to upper class liberal
“progressives”, will refuse to read it. After all, Matt Bracken is a “right wing nut” to them, and nothing he says should be read, lest it be seen as truth.

It doesn’t matter. I live in a small city (York, PA) and we have about 40 gangs, and the butcher’s bill is going up.
