Israel May Delay Attack in Return for MOP Bunker Buster Bombs

The United States may supply Israel with advanced Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bunker-buster bombs that can penetrate through up to 60 feet (almost 20 meters) of reinforced concrete, reports Maariv Tuesday.

This is part of a deal being worked out between the countries, which also includes the supply of refueling jets.

This equipment will make the job of demolishing Iran's nuclear weapon production array more feasible for Israel, should it decide to do so.

In exchange for the weapons, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will agree to hold off on an independent attack until after the U.S. elections.

This is a load of crap. This weapon is deliverable only from the B2 Stealth Bomber. Is Oblamo gonna let them have one of those as well?

You can't just sling this 30,00lb monster beneath a vulnerable and slow moving transport plane and drop it at your leisure.

I doubt Bibi will trust any deal Zero offers, and any delay that may occur, would more likely be predicated on denying Zero a crisis to use before the election.

Obama’s administration are flooding the press with these types of reports to take the heat off the fact that he will supply Israel with these bombs AFTER Iran has obliterated Israel, then he can say, “I was gonna send them last week but...”

What a sham and what a shame.

What about those retired F-117’s sitting out in the desert?
Why not sell/give them to Israel? They can’t carry a MOP but they could be very effective against other targets.

When I was a kid, I was hitching around in the Berkshires in Massachusetts.

A guy with a British accent picked me up and we chatted.

Now this was about 1978, and what he said was there had been 3 accidental nuclear events in America, and one had to do with a bunker-buster type weapon that went down into the ground like 500 feet and then exploded.

Thing is, when he was talking about it, he was talking “neutron flux” and “soft neutrons” so I knew he knew what he was talking about...

So now we’re talking 30 year old tech.

“In exchange for the weapons, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will agree to hold off on an independent attack until after the U.S. elections.”

I think this sounds unrealistic.

“O” has been stingy with diplomatic support and so, even IF he gives Israel material assistance, what does that mean without full and unwaivering US diplomatic support (or silence-because I am certain “O” is incapable of enduring and unalloyed firmness in anything)??

So when you were a kid you KNEW what "neutron flux" and "soft neutrons" were?

Puhleese!

Dear God I am glad that we have so much money to give away. We certainly don’t have a 16 trillion dollar deficit now do we?

This is the biggest load of BS I’ve read in a while. Israel has nothing capable of delivering an MOP under wartime conditions.

Isreal shouldn’t hold their breath waiting for a Bunker Buster from the U.S. as long as Obummer is Pres. Anyone who trusts that man is in “la la” land.

“Why not sell/give them to Israel?”

That would make the technology more likely to fall into the wrong hands. As of now, no other nation has stealth capabilities that even come close.

There was a 117 shot down in the Balkans, the only stealth aircraft to ever go down over non-US territory. Even though it was wrecked into tiny bits, Russia and China made a bee-line for the scraps.

However, even if they were to get a hold of a fully functional stealth aircraft, it is unlikely that they could replicate it any time soon. Stealth comes not from super advanced materials or secret machinery, but from super-precise tolerance of the aircraft's skin.

The only thing more complex to manufacture than these aircraft are the tools/machines that they are built with.

30000 lbs? If a C130 can deliver a daisy cutter they can deliver a MOP. Just have to kill the air defense first, no need for a B2.

They can call it bunker busters or MOP’s or whatever....but you know the troops call it “that BMFB”. (for all of you with virgin ears and can’t understand the acronym, grit your teeth, close your eyes and think “Big Mother Effing Bomb”.)

"If a C130 can deliver a daisy cutter they can deliver a MOP."

Other than one minor detail, or two. the MOP has to somehow get OUT of the C130, and then precisely INTO the target!

Picture the “Peanuts” comic strip, and at the last second, Lucy yanks the football away. Exactly what Hussein will do to Netanyahu with the BB ordnance.......even IF Israel had aircraft that could DELIVER that ordnance to Iran, which I doubt whether they do.

I’m sure a C-130 can deliver a MOP, but can it drop it from a high-enough altitude for it to penetrate effectively?

Come on, I’m not a load master, not knowing the dimensions of a MOP, but if it can fit inside a C130 they can deliver it. Just like with a B2 once the bomb is out of the plane, it’s precision is dictated by the GPS guidance system within the bomb.

Notice I wrote Israel has nothing capable of delivering an MOP under wartime conditions. I didn't write Israel has nothing capable of carrying an MOP.

Just have to kill the air defense first, no need for a B2.

A lumbering C130 is vulnerable to WWII era AAA.

I agree, crap, Zero is untrustworthy, Israel can’t deliver the weapons to target without elimination of Iranian air defense, and Russia wants Iran bottled up, but still a thorn to the US.
