DNC Spokesman: 'Clearly We’re Better Off' Than Four Years Ago
The Blaze ^ | 9/3/12 | Eddie Scarry

Communications Director for the Democratic National Committee Brad Woodhouse said on CNN’s Early Start this morning that “clearly” Americans are “better off” today than at the start of President Barack Obama’s term.

Broadcasting from Charlotte, N.C., where the Democratic National Convention kicks off today, CNN‘s John Berman asked Woodhouse what many Democratic operatives were asked on yesterday’s talk shows: “Are we better off today than we were four years ago?”

“Absolutely,” Woodhouse said. “[Vice President] Joe Biden does it in a very short form. He talks about G.M. is alive and Osama bin Laden is dead. The truth is though is that the American people know. I mean, we were literally a plane that was heading — the trajectory was towards the ground when the president took over. He got the stick, he’s pulled us up out of that decline.”

Woodhouse continued, “We were losing 800,000 jobs a month. Lost 3.5 millions, Americans I know have not forgotten, we lost 3.5 million jobs in the last six months of the Bush administration. We gained 4.5 million jobs over the past two and a half years. So if you just put those side by side, clearly we’re better off. However, we have a long way to go.”

Come on RNC and Romney . . . let’s educate the idiots and play some commercials showing Frank, Dodd, Waters, et al saying the housing market was just fine and Bush & company begging them to reform Freddie and Fannie.

Thank you! I was beginning to feel like the Lone Ranger. Why is this so hard too see for the RNC,Boehner,Prebus, any of the top guys.We probably need Newt out there to explain it in no uncertain terms.

YES. Please send Newt out. I actually sent a “suggestion” to the campaign about it this afternoon and mentioned to send Newt out to all the media outlets as he knows how to confront them on their turf under no uncertain terms. Anyway, it made me feel better for having sent it but I’m sure they get tens of thousands of suggestions. :)

The RNC and GOP lost that battle in ‘08 and I really blame Michael Steele for such a sorry job. He had no fight in him.

We’ve tried it John McCain’s way. We’ve tried it George Bush’s way. Deep down, Senator McCain knows that, which is why his campaign said that “if we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose.” That’s why he’s spending these last weeks calling me every name in the book. Because that’s how you play the game in Washington. If you don’t have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run away from. You make a big election about small things.

Great post, nothing like using the dear leaders words against him.

If you and I can come up with this why can’t the RNC? I really don’t get it! It’s all we hear and about the only talking point they have we have not yet countered.

Beats me. I’ve watch many youtubes on it. Primers on the meltdown. Why they don’t use the ammo at our disposal is beyond me. It is ugly too. I hated it when GWB didn’t fight back either. He wasn’t perfect but to hear them tell it the entire 8 years was horrible. Sorry, it wasn’t. But nobody says a peep. Drives me crazy.

Finally someone that thinks exactly like I do! Took me forever until I had to just stop wondering why GW did what he did on so many things. Not fighting back and a host of other events top the list.

I was told I should be content that he kept us safe. I Finally stopped wondering why he did what he did and now I concentrate on what I can do to stop the commie -in -chief.

Me too. Nice to meet ya. I’m afraid I’m going to have to turn off the tv or change the channel this week. I’d love to see some of the FOX people just cut the mic when they start with their lying. Some guy on during BOR with sub Laura tonight and she kept telling him it wasn’t true and they just keep on spewing. Drives me bonkers.

If it’s like the Clintons and the Bush follow-on, don’t get your hopes up.

Food is going to go up A LOT in the next few weeks. When my fav Orowheat Jewish Rye is $4.99—that wakes me up. Obama is destroying our country and I “think” many that wanted him to have a chance (historic and all that white guilt) are awake and afraid.

I heard Plouffe (sp?) on one of the Sunday shows and he was asked 3 times if we were better off and HE DIDN'T ANSWER 3 TIMES. Then I read a couple of other reports that regime operatives pretty much said NO we are not better off. It got my attention—I thought “Gee, they are in disarray...Good.”

Then comes Monday a.m. and I flipped to NPR (for my dose of Leftism) and what was one of the main stories re-ran every hour? That hag spokesgal for Barry...The newsreader said something like ‘Every election that same question comes up, are we better off than 4 years ago’. Then they played Cutter say “Absolutely we are better off.”

That was the extent of their reporting. It made me sick. Clearly the war room had sent NPR their marching orders.

NPR had better be defunded when Romney wins, along with PP and Dept of Education.

The media is disgusting.

My fav Romney surrogate is Sununu. I believe he will get the word out on your points.

I'm waiting for somebody to make it known that the brain trust that is Maxine Waters is next in line to take over Barney Frank's job...heading the finance committee.

MAXINE WATERS! My God....Look at our country! We have a slim chance of pulling up if Romney/Ryan gets elected. If not—what did Reagan say about hundreds of years of darkness? He was right. About everything, pretty much. I know Mitt has had a spotty history with Conservatism—But I think he has what it takes to TURN into a Reagan-like figure. Certainly Mr. Ryan has what it takes. Vote and pray. We are screwed if Obama is not fired.
