And then began a half-century of Pax Americana. The vanquished nations were restored to prosperity and freedom through our efforts and beneficence. We provided the nuclear umbrella and standing military that guaranteed European and Asian economic development and freedom for the last 50 years. We acted as the World's Policeman and threw our greatest treasure, our young men and women, into the fray time and time again.
The rest of the world owes us big time! Will the debt ever be repaid? Don't hold your breath!
