Hello from Idaho. Crap forest service in town telling us may have to be foiled in the next few days. Smoke is bad and the road out of town is not really a good idea they tell me.

Good evening, MM...((HUGS))

Nice and quiet weekend so far...mostly rainy, but I’m not going anywhere. Right now it looks like rain is getting really close.

How about you? Walking weather?

Listening to the Chopin Op. 42 In A Flat (The ‘Two Four’ Waltz) right now. Good stuff to relax to, even though it’s light and brisk.

Yesterday and today not good walking weather. Yesterday was a “white-out” of rain due to remnants of Isaac.
Crazy how it came all the way up here!
Plan on getting plenty of walking in on Tuesday though. Still have much of Meeky to lose! LOL :)

I'm BAAACK!

Rallying for a little while. OK, Mrs. MacNessa went out and bought us some wine and I now feel renewed. :)

Labor Day is day of some significance in my family, although the living members probably have no inkling of the role played by their forebears in the Labor Movement. Some of my paternal ancestors were coal miners in Northeast Pennsylvania in the late 1800's. My two greats grandfather Patrick Rafferty was a constable in Old Forge Pennsylvania who was assassinated during strikes in the mines in December, 1899.

Two of my maternal great uncles were active in union politics in Philadelphia in the 30's and 40's. They worked in a distillery, God bless them, and fought against horrible working conditions.

I'm not an apologist for labor unions - but I think that they have done some good things in the past. And I abhor Wobblies and other Commie fronts masquerading as voices of the working man.

Howdy, Conor! ((((hugs))))

Welcome back! I loved the stories about your forebears and how
they helped to shape this country.

Unions were different then...they really DID take up for the
working man..instead of just TAKing from him!
