Virginia Moves Toward Romney

Wanda Snead wants the same thing for her family, her community and her country: “Someone who will take charge of this mess that is happening in our economy and get the country moving again.”

Snead, 56, and her husband, Sam, 64, run a real estate company in this charming Northern Virginia town at the base of Shenandoah National Park, where majestic Skyline Drive meanders down to North Carolina.

They have owned the company for more than 30 years. In 2009 they had ten agents and two offices; today they have three agents and one office.

“We are very fortunate and blessed to be able to keep our doors open still, but it has been a struggle,” she said. Housing keeps America’s economy going, she said, and “Obama has clearly never understood that.”

Snead and her husband are not fanatical Republicans. They are independent voters who, for the first time, have a political sign in front of their business along John Marshall Highway, which runs through the center of town

But...but...didn't we already get rid of Bush and replace him with somebody who would do just that back in '08? /s

Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida, New Hampshire, Maine, Colorado, Pennsylvania & Nevada. All states Obama won in 08 that I think will go Romney/Ryan.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say Romney is within a couple of points in Connecticut, New Jersey, and Minnesota. I would love to see Ras poll those states.

The fact that Obama is going to have to spend money in MI & WI is going to drain away his resources. I doubt he ever thought he would be defending these upper midwest states.

Romney Ryan will take Wisconsin and Iowa as well.

I’m thinking 341-197 EV for Romney/Ryan

The Skyline Drive ends at Afton. This also marks the beginning of the Blue Ridge Pkwy, which meanders down into North Carolina. Other than that, the Shenandoah Valley is full of Sneads.

Well it might sound crazy, but I would add Massachusetts to that list too. Mitt Romney was elected governor here and Scott Brown is running for re-election against an insufferable woman named Elizabeth Warren. A lot of Democrats are going to vote for Scott Brown and they might just pull the lever for Romney while they are at it.

This is potentially very good news, although Virginia is still going to have to contend with the drooling packs of Virgil Goode zombies who fail to understand that in their zeal to ‘make a statement’, they have the potential of tilting Virginia’s electoral votes into 0bama’s column by virtue of Goode sapping off votes that would otherwise go to Romney & Ryan. If Virginia ends up in the ‘Rat column it will be Virgil Goode and the fools following him that can be cursed for another 4 years of 0bamugabe and the likely end of our Nation.

Then there are the ten's of thousands of government employees that work in DC but live in Virginia.

They know what side their bread is buttered on.

Doesn’t sound crazy at all. If Mass goes on that list then we got to add Oregon and New Mexico to.

Might sound a little out there at first but, the more Obama keeps talking the more he loses in the polls.

Interesting article, but these are the kinds of voters who are likely to be very disappointed no matter who wins in November. For most of the U.S., the real estate market isn’t going to be recovering anytime soon. The days of easy mortgages and an idiotic run-up in real estate prices are over, and they ain’t coming back.

An interesting but short article. I live in the Valley and work in Obama Central (Arlington, VA). The key to winning Virginia is to keep everyone home east of Rt 15. The Valley is unfortunately not as monolithic as people think, there are always lots of Kaine signs every time including this time. There are plenty of people who hate Obama, but also some who hate themselves enough to like Obama.

There's always debate about which way Fairfax or Prince William will go in each election, but it's painfully obvious that they will vote for Obama this time. They have plenty of jobs thanks to defense spending so the economy is not an issue. There are 40% hardcore liberals, no mystery which way they will vote. The only question is whether the sentimental housewives of NoVa and their clueless husbands will get out and vote.

Keeping them home and perhaps swinging a few against Obama can only be accomplished one way. There must be 24x7 coverage of Obama's inner jerk. That Eastwood skit was a great start. Everyone knows that Obama really did tell Eastwood to go f himself. That is how Obama thinks and he's only protected by the teleprompter. The compliant media will roll the cameras with Obama hugging his kids, but we need to counter that every chance with a true depiction of his Chicago character. Best case is we get him to unhinge a time or two.

Makes me wonder if they voted for Obama. This nation is full of people with buyer’s remorse from ‘08.

I agree with you on all of these except Maine and Pennsylvania. And Colorado and Nevada will be tough. But, in the latter two states, there are heavy Mormon populations. So, NV and CO are possibilities.

As a new person to Free Republic, I did a lot of perusing the articles and comments today. A lot of people have concerns about the Dems pulling off massive voter fraud. In the States above, which will all be close; do you think Romney can get a big enough vote margin to offset any vote fraud?

I think this: A lot of people who are saying, at this point in time, that they are voting for Mr. Goode, will walk into that voting booth and pull the lever for Romney. They just will not be able to bring themselves to help Obama have another 4 years in the White House. Right now, they are apparently angry and in a "send a message" mode. But, I think that for most of them, their common sense will put up a road block to voting for Goode when it comes right down to it.
