The second thing this did was gig Obama---who is notoriously thin-skinned---and this will force him into campaign errors. You can argue it already has: Obama changed HIS schedule to now try and follow Romney to LA.
Oh, and third, do you remember what just a week ago consumed the media and blogosphere? Akin, Akin, Akin. Where is Mr. Akin now? Nobody cares. He's dropped off the media map as they attack Eastwood. But Eastwood's image is enduring . . . the empty chair. I just think it was a home run in every aspect.
You get an A for being ............
Astute.
I agree - Eastwood’s “shtick” was absolutely brilliant! And, I believe it was not at all unplanned. This is an accomplished iconic actor who’s no dottering old fool. When I was at each of the 3 screenings of “2016” that I’ve seen, Clint’s new movie (”The Trouble with Curves”) which he directed and stars in was a featured trailer. I agree with the many posters who believe the dottering fool approach was in the style of Jimmy Stewart. If you read the lines Clint delivered, they were absolutely devastating. Not even a fired up Mark Levin could have ripped apart the “mystique” of Dear Leader better than Clint did!
Clint’s apperarance, of course, was to help create in the popular culture legitimacy of Romney/Ryan/GOP claims that Obama is an historically failed president. On a night in which the main speakers (Rubio, Romney) took great pains to tell us what a great guy Obamugabe is and “it’s OK to make a change”, inserting Eastwood was truly brilliant. He said all the things that the main speakers couldn’t, given their strategy to appeal to the undecideds. Plus, the empty chair meme has already percolated into popular discourse and social media. Won’t be surprised to see empty chairs strategically placed at Romney/Ryan rallies for the next 2 months.
Moreover, this was the 1st time that I can recall in which Obama was truly ridiculed - and it was devastating - and it was in front of 40 million people! Let the left/MSM squeal. From now on, when people see an empty chair, they’re going to think of the Islamomarixist!
I agree!
Romney should go to that Caterpillar plant in Illinois and discuss what happened after Obama's visit. He should also go to Tombstone, Arizona and discuss federal lawsuits against fresh water for the town. Pay a visit to Jan Brewer.
That empty chair has gone absoluately VIRAL...everyone is talking about...THANK YOU you useless mediaWHORE you did your job well...BAWHAHAHAHA!... Useful race baiting idiots...
I loved your analysis and your writing. Very enjoyable to read.
See tag line. Think it impossible?
Strongly disagree all you want. We're fighting Democrats. To show Zero as emblematic of ALL Democrats (including she who was not named) is by far more flexible, powerful, and important toward the goal of conservative governance, of which electing Romney is an unfortunate aspect.
The second thing this did was gig Obama-
Tactical, not strategic.

You should know better.
Akin dropped off the media map as soon as he moved back into the lead. The leftist media realized that they were overplaying their hand, turning Akin into a folk hero and causing pissed-off voters to rally behind him.
I agree that the Eastwood speech (actually comedy bit) was brilliant. It ridiculed Obama without being nasty or over-the-top. The empty chair was symbolic of the Obama presidency. Empty chair. Empty promises. Empty slogans.
This Eastwood speech has gone viral on the Internet. On YouTube, there are multiple videos of it that have already garnered hundreds of thousands of views. It will be in the millions by the end of the weekend.
No doubt the thin-skinned Obama and his crowd are going to attempt to "get back" at Romney at the DNC and you can bet that their response will be heavy-handed, petty and ugly. I'm looking forward to it.
As you pointed out, Obama is already running scared. Now he's following Romney into Louisiana and trying to claim it was his idea first. So he's petty and childish already.
A week ago, many Democrats were chortling about how the hurricane was going to embarrass the Republicans and ruin their convention. It appears that the tables have been turned.
