TAMPA, August 31, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney delivered his acceptance speech at the GOP convention Thursday night, laying out his vision for a Romney presidency.
Mr. Chairman, delegates. I accept your nomination for president of the United States of America, Romney said. I do so with humility, deeply moved by the trust you have placed in me. It is a great honor. It is an even greater responsibility.
In a speech focusing mainly on the countrys economic quandary and his own life history, Romney inserted a reference to social issues, pledging to protect life and marriage if made president.
As president, I will protect the sanctity of life. I will honor the institution of marriage.”
In a reference to the HHS mandate, he said, “And I will guarantee Americas first liberty: the freedom of religion.
Romney also touted his wifes role as the mother of five boys, saying that even as he was working building his business, I knew that her job as a mom was harder than mine. And I knew without question, that her job as a mom was a lot more important than mine.
Earlier this year, a Democratic advisor provoked a media firestorm after criticizing Ann Romneys decision to be a stay-at-home. Hilary Rosen told CNNs Anderson Cooper that Mrs. Romney, has actually never worked a day in her life, echoing a similar charge Teresa Heinz Kerry made against Laura Bush in 2004.
Mrs. Romney rose to her own defense, tweeting, I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work.
In last nights speech Romney also renewed his pledge to repeal and replace Obamas health care reform law, conventionally known as “ObamaCare,” a law that has been heavily criticized by pro-life leaders for funding abortion.
Ping!
The more I think over what he and Ryan have said during the convention, if they truly mean it and will govern that way, then they actually are the TEA party.
And IF that is true, Romney will be the "Reagan" for this generation and beyond, maybe even a better Reagan than Reagan was.
Ping.
He’s a ((&(*&*&^&&^^&%^% LIAR!
If being pro-infanticide and pro-polygamy would have gotten him the nomination he would be out extolling those. He is a world class slick salesman with no inherent moral compass whatsoever.
How is Romney going to support the value of life when he supports abortion for the “life of the mother”, rape, incest.....
He is not pro-life.
You sing it brother, you are absolutely correct.
Get your flame suit on, quick.
You are going to be eviscerated, by the Romney supporters.
What Reagan are you talking about?
Well, in the old days it used to be like that but now when I go back and check the replies (when I bother to do so) there seem to be at most one or two really lame (and often robotic like Romney) rejoinders if the thread has grown at all..
And the other guy is.................??????
He is a world class slick salesman with no inherent moral compass whatsoever.
Honestly, I could live with that IF he would let a team of people with a moral compass guide him and make him, if necessary, do the right thing.
Picking Ryan was a good start.
We will get a sense as soon as we learn who he picks for his cabinate and probably the first few month in office.
If he plays it safe or picks wishy wash people I am guessing we are screwed blue.
However, if he make bold choices that are somewhat out of his comfort zone, ock solid reformers, then its a good sign.
Romney is pro-choice. You “conservatives” have fun with that one.
If his position was truly to provide an exception where the “life” of the mother was in immediate danger, I’d be impressed. But his position is the “health” of the mother, which has been interpreted by courts in America and Canada as including everything from a headache and stomach cramps to mild depression. Romney’s a pro-abortion advocate who’s hiding behind euphemisms.
I don't trust Romney. Any questions?
Health of the mother, “health” is the Romney move back to being fully pro-abortion.
Romney left the party because of Reagan, he despised Reagan, he campaigned as anti-Reagan.
Mitt Romney announced 5 days ago that he is still pro-abortion.
Romney has already started shutting out the Reagan wing of the GOP, to the extent that the first republican female veep, and the previous ticket’s vice presidential candidate, was totally erased from the convention, even her name was forbidden.
Romney is out to dismantle the Reagan wing of the party.
Mitt stated he will protect life, marriage and religious freedom and he gets a thread full of criticism... And if he HADN’T stated that, he would have also gotten a thread full of criticism :-)
GO MITT.... EVICT THE KENYAN COMMUNIST AND HIS SNEERING HAG!!!!
I take it you did not watch the Republican National Convention. You didn't hear the testimony of church members on how Romney helped their disabled son. David Oparowskis cancer eventually took his life and the story is a testament to Romneys care and concern for human life. You don't believe Romney and both of you will be voting for Obama.
Your show is coming up next week. Their primary speaker is ... Sandra Fluke ... who will be introducing your president.
At least you will receive some recompense on your investment in Sandra's contraceptives.
Ok, so last night Romney told the truth and five days ago, (when he supported abortion with a bunch of qualifiers), he did not tell the truth.
Got it.
