FORT BLISS, Texas -- President Obama was planning to visit storm-stricken Louisiana before GOP rival Mitt Romney announced his plans, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One Friday morning.
Romney's campaign announced his trip to New Orleans -- he is touring areas hit by Hurricane Isaac this afternoon -- hours before the White House announced Obama would cancel a planned Monday campaign event in Cleveland to divert to Louisiana.
Carney offered no details about where in Louisiana Obama would travel during his Monday trip.
"In terms of the President's travel, obviously when you're president of the United States, coordinating travel carries with it I think unique logistical challenges," Carney said. "And it was the assessment of the president's team, working with all the people involved in operations as well as people on the ground that Monday would be -- was a good day for the president to visit."

The jerk off really wasn't planning a visit even though many areas have the Katrina affect in massive flooding and damages. The media crucified Bush for doing a fly over when trying to avoid hindering rescue operations, but Obama could really give a rat's @ss. I love this "me too" moment because Obama could easily have visited with minimal security - but he wants the pomp and circumstance - and of course, the most important thing, the photo op.

Obama is immature like this because he has never had to face the consequences of his actions. Someone always covered for him. Having to face your own mistakes is what makes you mature. This is why BO acts like an 8th grade punk about everything and it leaks down to his spokespeople and staff. Childish, all of them.
On the same trip, our Dear Leader is also going to comfort the dying son of a campaign donor, help him write his final tax return, and spare no (government) expense to find the daughter of another. He was planning that way back when he was a heroic community organizer.
