Really AL!?!?!

I am of the opinion that the electoral college needs to be strengthened. Namely by altering the Constitution so that each congressional district determines it’s own electoral vote. The vote awarded to the candidate that receives a majority in that district. If no majority, then a run off 30 days later between the two candidates with the most votes. The remaining votes (2 per state) would be awarded to the candidate that receives 55% or more of the vote. Otherwise, split between the top two candidates.

Further, require citizenship, photo id, and proof of residence to register. Purge the voting rolls Feb 1st following a Presidential election. Require photo ID to cast a ballot or hold as a provisional ballot until right to vote can be verified. Require that all ballots be turned in for counting no later than 2 hrs after the last voter has been cast and allow no other ballots to be accepted after that time.

3/4 of the states have 20 Electoral votes or less. You need 3/4 of the states to ratify an amendment. 3/4 of the states aren’t going to vote to screw themselves.

Laws like that used to be on the books until the late 1930's. The problem is that it, itself, enabled corruption. A little sabotage from one party that delays the delivery of ballots from a particular district and....I think you see why we did away with it. In today's world it would come in the form of DOS attacks or cut lines instead of hijacked vehicles, but the result would be the same.
