...Protecting the middle class might be the theme of Obama's campaign ads, but the defining movement of this campaign came when Obama belittled the efforts of Main Street America when he stated that "you didn't build that." Those sneering words about smart, hardworking people revealed the ugly side of Obama's redistributionalist ideology. As in 2008, most of the media accept all the carefully scripted images of Obama as Gospel truth while they busy themselves trying to either hide or spin away all those extemporaneous words and deeds that display Obama's true beliefs and character as being either out of context or aberrational....
This campaign is coming down to two competing views of America. As it plays out, I think something very profound may be happening to Mitt Romney. Romney reminds me of a good many smart businessmen I have known. They live their own lives by a set of solid small-c conservative rules, but they are too busy solving smaller daily problems to think much about political conservatism as a coherent system. Such people often pay lip service to the left-of-center conventional media wisdom about big government and public morality even as they rigorously practice all the bourgeois virtues of thrift, hard work, neighborliness, sobriety, and sexual continence in their personal affairs.
....this very smart, very competitive man is facing an opponent who is perhaps the most rigidly ideological man ever to become president. Romney doesn't like what he sees happening to the nation, nor does he much like the person he is running against. Confronted with the problem of beating not just the person, but also the ideology, and then fixing what is broken, Romney may be discovering for the very first time that he is actually far more ideological than he ever thought he was.

What is your evidence they have given up on Virginia?
At first read, I thought you said you just finished writing this Wiki entry. I see it was last updated this morning - maybe after his mention of her in his speech. Thanks for the link.
Obamugabe wins, then you are in deeper doo doo than I am.
Just watched it briefly on TV ~ thought it interesting for a moment. You do realize that unless Doug Wilder dumps Obamugabe the Dems will vote for him. This is a very narrowly divided state.
ok, fair enough. I agree with you. We get a conservative congress and senate and make the best of the Presidential candidate we got. Let’s keep fighting until the end...
It will not be easy but we will get through this election.
LLS
Mythical war? You think that everything the GOP-E has done for the past four years to undermine and co-opt the TEA party movement is mythical? My God...go back and look at all the old threads from 2010 and tell me that the GOP-E was not at war with Conservatives.
Nope. Never have and never will.
Shall we also tear down all of the churches and missionaries who have the goal to help bring people to Jesus Christ because of their God given right to decide?
Is is a God given right for them to decide to vote for a leader which will result in infanticide?
Or is it our God given responsibility to educate the people that a fetus is a life?
Also nice try at trying to rewrite election history, you and Mitt seem to have a lot in common, the only problem is it didn't happen that way and it was not purist that dictated the election and it was not the voter that caused the nominee to fail it was the nominee. It is the nominee that dictates the election. You do grasp that it is the leader of the party is the one that dictates the terms right? When are you guys going to take responsibility for those failures and stop being like Obama and constantly blaming others for your own incompetence and inability to get the job done? I mean really the voter is the problem here and not the person running? Right maybe in Bizarro world but not in the real world.
Sorry but you can't blame the conservatives for all those guys losing ways of ineptitude in running their campaigns for president. It was their message and their vision and yet they could not convince a majority of the population to elect them. Their failures fall squarely on their shoulders alone and no one else's. Especially John McCain.
It was John McCain's show and he was blowing chunks with every campaign speech before Palin signed on. And she was the only redeeming thing about that campaign without her it would have been a landslide defeat. Then even after she signed on he continued his losing ways with dismal speech after speech. Then there is John McCain's ties to the George Soros Tides Foundation and his idiotic campaign finance reform which he was more passioned about than his own presidential race. His constant attacks on his own Party. Then flying back for the TARP vote and going AWOL then making the all mighty quote of "B.O. will make a fine President" sealed his fate because at that point any American that was still at least a little bit interested in him saw he had given up or figured out he was not really interested in getting the gig in the first place.
Plus it is quite telling when the VP slot of the ticket is a bigger draw than the main attraction. So who's message caused the lost? It was McCain's!
I mean come on John McCain has 22 years experience in government and was running against an inexperienced community organizer with barely 2 years in the Senate. Yet He LOST!!! With all that experience on his side he was only able to barely squeak by in a couple of the debates. Case made right there.
So don't you dare sit there and try to blame conservatives the voters for McCain's screw ups and all the others failures who could not get elected. Really Bill Clinton was scandal city toxic and yet Bob Dole could not beat that guy!
Dude you don't get it at all do you? Ever one of those elections you had the guy you wanted and he could not close the deal. You keep doing the same thing over and over expecting to win. Would it really kill you guys to try a new tatic when we have a Marxist in the Whitehouse. I mean look at John McCain he was and still is the media darling left of center republican yet he lost and now we have a guy who is left of McCain and somehow you think there is going to be a different outcome? Based on what?
Besides everyone says it is the independents that make or break an election. So what is the problem? How come none of those guys could sow up the middle of road voters when all the nominees were middle of road politicians and in some cases left lane drivers? It is not the voter that is at fault here or the problem it is the nominee and what he is selling or in this case selling out.
I will repost it again. The question: Is Mitt becoming more conservative. My response:
No!!! ROTFLOL Really now!!! Let me get this straight you honestly really think that Mitt Romney is now going to sell out all the Money-Men who got him here? That he is going to reverse his political ideological stances on issues that he has spent his whole political career advancing? Come on now nice try at spin but that cycle shut off a long time ago.
I mean really people have access to LexusNexis, Government.com,org,net, all his speeches, government business, private sector records, etc... people who took to the time to look into Mitt Romney know exactly who he is and what he stands for. There is no guessing about who Mitt is anymore. It is all out there with no interpretation needed.
It was a nice speech on American exceptionalism but he is not going to throw away his core beliefs out the window based on a campaign speech.

All I did was point out that people know who Mitt Romney is and that Mitt knows who he is. You seem to have a real problem in coming to grips with that.
No he doesn't, not in a way that would please, normal people, and Christians. Mitt's "charity giving" is merely a cult member doing mandatory giving to his cult and serving his cult, if Mitt doesn't give at least 10% to the cult, then he does not become a God after death.
Do you want to explain that to the voting Christian base?
Thanks.
Are you suggesting Romney is in favor of infanticide?
Are you one of those posters who also believe Romney's the same kind of socialist as Bambi?
