Federal court rejects Texas voter ID law Updated 11:14 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2012
WASHINGTON (AP) A federal court has ruled against a Texas law that would require voters to present photo IDs to election officials before being allowed to cast ballots in November.
A three-judge panel in Washington ruled Thursday that the law imposes "strict, unforgiving burdens on the poor" and noted that racial minorities in Texas are more likely to live in poverty.
The decision involves an increasingly contentious political issue: a push, largely by Republican-controlled legislatures and governor's offices, to impose strict identification requirements on voters.

you leave with a larger skull full of even more mush."
Can’t remove the fed judges except by impeachment. If we could vote them out, the country would look significantly different today.
That's Iowa. And those judges were defeated at the ballot box, not by impeachment. There is not the political will or the votes necessary to remove judges for their absurd and stupid rulings. It's just not going to happen, at least not anytime in the next several generations.
"Lucky" Lyndon Johnson "won" a disputed Texas Senate race thanks to a fire ... the bulding holding the ballots burned down.
regardless of the state in which they reside, if the poor are receiving public assistance they have to have an ID. Why is that ID requirement not an unforgiving burden thus any different with respect to being a burden when requiring a voter ID? We all know the answer, VOTE FRAUD. The judges ruling defies logic so I presume they got the word from the WH and Chicago to rule against the law or else.
Hell, Texas should follow the Obama lead. Just say screw it. We will do whatever we decide and you can take us to court...britches.
Yes! Whatever it takes... this Obama-bot mandate cannot stand this November!
Apparently I’m stupid. Everytime I vote in Tennessee I am asked for my ID. Why can’t they do that in Texas?
It is time for Texas to start ignoring the courts.
It still doesn't matter who votes...just who COUNTS the votes. Remember Chicago, Daley and the Kennedy election? Or the latest Minnesota congressional? Trunks full of "Properly cast" votes are sitting in every one of the 57 states. God save the Republic!
Same here in Virginia.
“It is time for Texas to start ignoring the courts.”
So true. Its time for a governor to step up and tell these Federal judges that they have no jurisdiction over a sovereign state. The Constitution is very clear that only SCOTUS has jurisdiction over a state. The Supremes have already ruled that the voter ID is constitutional anyway.
Except in a few Southern States. The have law that applies only to them, and I don't know if it has had a court test, but I know they keep the South in line with it.
Lucky knew how to remove obstacles for sure.
re - title change - I’ve been pondering if both decisions were released to the friends in the press ahead of time, and the idiots published the wrong one the other day.
Not sure about you, but I've just about had it with "entitlement" mentalities no matter which end of Society it comes from.
FEDERAL COURT REJECTS TX VOTER ID LAW
Attorney General Eric Holder released the following statement on the courts ruling:
The courts decision today and the decision earlier this week on the Texas redistricting plans not only reaffirm but help protect the vital role the Voting Rights Act plays in our society to ensure that every American has the right to vote and to have that vote counted.
