2012 Republican Convention: Protesters Dressed as Vaginas Greet Delegates (Video)

10:48 AM PDT 8/27/2012 by Paul Bond

Pro-choice protesters accost delegates at the Republican National Convention as they arrive to party with country star Rodney Atkins.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Giant, walking vaginas have descended upon the Republican National Convention.

Several demonstrators from the feminist group Code Pink wore frilly pink costumes while others adorned with cardboard cutouts resembling the sexual organ were milling about Sunday looking for Republicans.

[...]

A Florida website called Shark-Tank.net captured video of some of them during their preparation (video below). The protesters carried signs saying such things as, “Read my lips. Leave my vagina alone,” and argued that pro-life Republicans are waging a war against women.

But with the official proceedings, along with two Lynyrd Skynyrd concerts and the premiere of an anti-Occupy Wall Street movie canceled Sunday and Monday due to weather, it wasn’t until Sunday night at The Welcome Event that the protesters found a large group of Republicans to confront.

As several thousand conventioneers arrived in buses at Tropicana Field, an indoor stadium where baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays play, they were met by about 400 protesters -- some of whom were in their vagina costumes. By that time, though, convention-goers hardly took notice of the crowd, and well-armed police and military personnel kept the demonstrators away from the party inside the stadium.

I haven’t run into many people on FreeRepublic with a sense of humor, lately. I’m afraid that it rubbed off on me. I have been spending so much time, fending off attacks, that I just assumed that your post was another one. Sorry.

There was a good post last night that gave a real laugh. It was an article about the poisonous venom of a snake being used to treat erectile dysfunction and some freeper remarked, that the success depended on when rigor mortis set in.

I thought it was hysterical, my husband wasn’t quite as amused. Maybe I just needed a good laugh. There hasn’t been much to smile about around Free Republic, lately.

I wish the Republicans would set up an “X-Treme Democrat Laff Cam” camera, with a dedicated screen on the convention floor. It would show nothing but the antics of Dem protesters trying to “protest” the convention.

It could be a great way to to tie the leftists kooks at the convention to the leftist kooks in the White House and Congress.

“There hasn’t been much to smile about around Free Republic, lately.”

Too many false-flag posters.

When did we, as Americans, stop whipping the tar out of people like that?

I don’t know if it is even “false flag” posters. I think that the Paulers actually convinced a lot of unhappy, single issue voters, that the Paulers were the only true conservatives. The Paulers use the term, “grassroots” to describe their effort to take over the GOP, they make it a “we” against “them” thing and then go about smearing all other candidates as part of the “them”.

We saw it all during the election. There were more smears of the candidates coming out of the Ron Paul Campaign than there were from Romney. I actually think that Romney used some of the Ron Paul smears to take out his opponents. Ron Paul displayed a visceral hatred for Rich Santorum because of his strong stand against abortion and he didn’t like Newt Gingrich or Cain or Perry, very much, either. It showed in his eyes.

I haven’t paid much attention to Ron Paul or his supporters. Sometimes he gets things right; sometimes he’s the mayor of Crazytown.

What I have seen is a large number of posters who are clearly leftists pretending to be something else. Some of them have “since” dates reaching back to 1998, which makes me think that someone knows how to hack this site.

We have to pay attention to them in WA because they have been working over time to take over the party here, and succeeding. Many of our candidates are closet Libertarians.

The problem with that goes beyond the obvious of conflict with social conservative interests. The problem is that many, who call themselves Libertarians, don’t understand what a Libertarian is. We have a whole lot of union members, public sector and private sector union members, who claim to be libertarians and they run for office as conservative Republicans. Then they stand up for the SEIU.

They have been pulling the same thing that they tried at the convention at our state and county conventions, for years. We have one state congressman, who is pro-legalization of marijuana, anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage and pro-government unions because he is a member of one. oh, and he’s a libertarian/Republican.

And why, precisely, do the members of Code Pink want to go out of their way to encourage a popular perception that they are dumb [plural vulgarity for female genitalia omitted in the interest of family friendliness and work safety]?

I have had a face to face with two at FReeps, in Boston.

The first called me a F’n Male Pig, didn’t like my sign. The second called me a lot of bad words when I told her that pink wasn't her color, Red was.
