Yahoo News has fired Washington bureau chief David Chalian after he was caught on a hot-mic during an online video broadcast today saying that Mitt Romney and his wife Ann had no problem with African Americans suffering as a result of Hurricane Isaac, a source familiar with the situation tells POLITICO.
"They're not concerned at all. They're happy to have a party with black people drowning," Chalian said during the ABC News/Yahoo News webcast, in reference to the fact that the GOP convention in Tampa is taking place as Hurricane Isaac makes landfall on the north Gulf coast.
The conservative media watchdog organization NewsBusters first posted audio of Chalian's remarks, but referred to him as an ABC News employee (and offered slightly inaccurate transcription). ABC News spokesperson Julie Townsend informed the organization that Chalian was with Yahoo.
Chalian and Yahoo News spokesperson Kristen Morquecho did not respond to requests for comment; Townsend also did not respond to a request for comment. (ABC News, where Chalian was political director until 2010, has partnered with Yahoo News for 2012 political coverage).
UPDATE (1:30 p.m.): Yahoo News confirms:
"David Chalian's statement was inappropriate and does not represent the views of Yahoo!. He has been terminated effective immediately. We have already reached out to the Romney campaign, and we apologize to Mitt Romney, his staff, their supporters and anyone who was offended."
They don't mind hating half the American citizens - they just don't like getting caught at it. Those who laughed and agreed get a pass... and all the media haters will try to be more careful... More careful at not getting caught - not more careful about their hatred for us.
They probably wanted to fire him so they could replace him with someone who is further left.
NBC will offer him a job in the 'we doctor tapes' department...
Your right. I just thought your sentence was funny that is all.
gwenifill just tweeted: One mistake does not change this. @DavidChalian is God’s gift to political journalism. #IStandwithDavid
I'll bet he said the same kinds of things when he worked for ABC too - and none of them cared. They probably jumped in with their own hateful comments.
I have no idea why our people are participating in debates moderated by a bunch of liberal elite media whores. I have absolutely no respect for the MSM...
Based on this it might be worth investigating.
I went to high school with Richard Head. He was two years ahead of me.
1000x worse than Todd Akin’s comments
Will get 1/1000 the coverage
Go over to Huffington Post and read some of the comments. Seems a lot of people over there agree with Chalian. This is the opposition, and they sure aren’t ‘loyal’. If Romney & the Republicans don’t crush these people at the ballot box, AND follow through with unraveling the nanny-state these people will be back in control in 4 to 8 years with somebody even worse than Obama leading the charge.
please add....corrupt...
The Twittersphere has some awesome comments:

The one from Iowahawk made me LOL!
I wonder what she's been saying about Todd Akin?
>> The one from Iowahawk made me LOL!
“#HesyourproblemnowMcdonalds” was a nice parting shot.
Hehehe! That’s the one!
Quick question, I see Chalian was fired from Yahoo News, but the article makes no mention of his position as ABC News’ Political Director.
Has he been relieved from that position as well?
Yancy
It really takes a lot of hate to come up with stuff like that. And they accuse conservatives of hate because of voter id or a birth certificate?
How come this ain’t being reported on Yahoo! news?
