the gop-e has created a perfect storm.. with most conservatives so fixated on getting rid of the socialist in the white house, that they fail to see the socialist plant right in their midst.. I have said that the goal of both candidates, democrat socialist and republican’t socialist is the same... the destruction of the conservative / constitutionalist movement.. expect more of the same if mcromney is elected...

Two things about ABOs who claim they'll hold Romney's feet to the fire and win back the party after the election:

1. They are not effectively holding his feet to the fire: in just the past week he's come out for Romneycare again and also for a "health" exception in allowing abortions.

2. IF ROMNEY WINS: He will be the head of the party, his METHODS will be lauded as effective, he will install the leaders, and he will set the agenda.

IF ROMNEY LOSES: He and his will be shown to be losers, his methods will be proven totally illegitimate, the party will be in turmoil, the leadership will be shakey and defeatable.

Which scenario will provide the best opportunity for conservatives to change the power structure?

Which scenario will entrench liberal republicanism for decades?

It's that simple.

I have to disagree with your assessment (timing) of item 1...

Right after fubocare was upheld, mcromney came right out and said that there were parts of this he wanted to keep..

That one slipped under the radar for most, but i caught it right away, and said he would “tweak” it...

Win or loose the republicans have changed their party forever. It can no longer be touted as a home for free market, liberty loving, God fearing Americans. It is a home for insider rich and beltway eliete. And it is just proved itself unredeemable.

Beyond getting rid of Obama anybody that supports the republicans are self enslaving moron. Time for a new party that is a home for liberty loving americans

I cannot vote for Romney I cannot vote for Obama evil is evil lessor or not.

You’re missing the big picture, in that the Tea Party is slowly and methodically eliminating the RINOs in congress and the senate. Without them, while Romney might want to be a liberal, “nothing liberal this way comes.”

Right now, Romney might still win, but the fight for conservatives is that the Speaker of the House is *not* Boehner, and the Senate majority leader is *not* a RINO.

If the Tea Party is strong enough in the House to select a different speaker, than anything liberal that Romney wants is kaput. If he wants something the conservatives want, he gets it. His choice.

Even if he does an Obama, and tries to liberally rule by executive order, congress will just slash funding for that activity or agency. They mean to do some serious trash hauling as is. If Romney wants to increase the budget on anything, he is going to have to surrender twice as much in cuts.

The bottom line is that while Romney might want to focus on domestic policy, it is out of his hands. So he will have his best successes just cleaning up the international messes that Obama has left behind.
